cocker thread?

I just bought a used freak kit, that is supposed to be autococker threaded. of course, it doesn't fit my v1 mini. the threading looks identical to the stock barrel, but the freak back will not slip all the way in for the threads to screw onto the marker.

is it more likely that;
the freak back is not autococker?
the freak back is not milled correctly?
the freak back is swollen?
the v1 mini isn't compatible with the freak autococker thread?

IIRC, some of the Minis had trouble with some Cocker barrels. Pics would help to ensure it's 100% Cocker threaded. Assuming it is, try screwing it into another Cocker threaded gun, a friend's gun or another of your own if you have another, or try something at a shop with your barrel.

I've actually had that problem with my DYE Cocker as well. Some Cocker barrels do not thread onto it. Weird, since DYE used genuine Cocker bodies, but what can you do, right?

The problem with AC threads is that altho they are based on 7/8-20tpi, there is no standard for thread fitment. Some markers are made with relaxed threads, some with tighter fitting threads. Same for barrels. So, there will always be the extreme cases from some barrels not fitting in some guns at all, to some barrels literally falling out of some guns. The V1 Minis were known for being on the tightest side of the AC threads.

ill try to get some pics on tonight. and the threads don't even meet each other. I can't squeeze the barrel in far enough to even try to twist the threads together.

yeah, here in a sticky in the Mini forum, you'll see some early mini's can't take J&J Edge or Freak barrels due to the diameter. Maybe that is your issue? http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=2962718

that link was extremely helpful. thanks a lot. I actually posted in their last year, but overlooked the details about the barrels. im pretty sure my new freak kit is as old as my v1 mini. ill try fitting the back on some other cocker threaded markers. I might try to find a back that fits mine or just dump the kit all together.
