G5 consistency & efficiency?

Thinking of buying a G5 as i'm tired of fixing my 2k5 intimidator.
Bought my wife a g4 and i'm liking it more than my timmy.

So i'm thinking of getting a g5. One major turn off is consistency... All the vids i've seen are like 260-290fps for me that is unacceptable. i would like to be seeing 270-280fps. I like the hose less design but am worried i'll be screwed if the stock reg is inconsistent.

Only shot a few pods threw my wife's g4 so far and am worried about efficiency... seems to use up the air rather quick. How many shots can i expect to get out of a 45/4500 and a 68/4500 on a g4/g5

A lot of those G5 video that you saw in YouTube are still new, the reg have not been break-in yet. Once you have the reg break-in, it will have a better consistency and efficiency. As with the G4, its a very solid marker. If you have the right set up and the right settings it goes a long way. Do you have a Tech T bolt in your wife's G4? Tech T bolt will help with efficiency and consistency. My G4 shoots like a dream and it never let me down.

My wife's g4 is completely stock, I wiped the bolt down and re-lubed with dow 33 also upped the dwell a tad to help with consistency.
Bought it because it was pink & lightweight lol. Her 1st gun
We are playing next weekend. I'm thinking if i order a g5 now i'll have it for next weekend.

I like how easy these guns are to work on. My intimidator is just being a pita right now gotta take it apart to fix a pinched hose.

for me, Paint has been the biggest deal. We shoot valken redemption at our home field (it likes a .684-85 bore) and Im usually 285-287-283 or something like that with my aliens and bob longs. I was surprised with my buddies G4 with a 689 CP barrel, it was just as good over the crono as my guns.

I go to the other fields around here and shoot a lesser paint and suddenly im in the 270s and high 280s no matter what i use for my bore.

If you like your intimidator, why not check out a used 2011 G6R. (500-600 used) They wont be nearly as easy to work on however.

If you want to spend half that, the G5 is a great choice BUT you cannot get the techt engine for it so the efficiency (slightly better than g4) wont be able to be improved.

I just came from shooting two different luxes and now a GT, the efficiency on these guns is no were near my Marq or Vices.. the G4 is similar in efficiency to my spoolies.. so honestly, if you want a spool.. thats your trade off.

Just got my intimidator working again gotta test it with some paint. It works however the noid doesn't cycle unless dwell is turned up above 10ms should cycle with stock 8ms so it needs lubed. Last time i tried to lube a timmy noid i broke it so I don't really wanna even try.

I'm use to +/- 3fps around 275fps i credit this to the evil detonator reg.
Makes me wonder what a g4 would do with a better reg on it.

If my timmys working 100% again i may hold off on buying the G5.
I do like the compact design and light weight of the spool guns. My timmy feels so bulky vs the g4. The timmy feels like it belongs in my hands but the g4 feels so maneuverable like i could snap shoot faster with it. i have a 45ci tank on the wifes g4 and a pink vlocity on top. Its the lightest setup i've had my hands on.

Just ordered the G5 in red with a new dye rotor!
The timmy works but is having eye issues now.
After i just put new stock eyes in it wtf. Wires broke on my Lazer eyes.
Hope its just an alignment issue or something.

Thanks for the noid link. All the vids/pics on intimidatorowners.com no longer work so i was out of luck when i rebuilt my last solenoid.

I had a damaged reg seat from the factory and it made it shoot way inconsistent. I wonder if more people don't have this problem and don't realized it? kinda like the g3 issue. anyway replaced the reg seat and it shoots +/- 5 fps all day. and I don't think the reg is even broke in yet either seeing as it hasn't even had a case through it.

I have a 68/4500 on my g5. I'm guessing about 1200 shots. Running stock dwell

You will like you G5. I just bought mine. I put a V-Max on it a crossfire 4500 with ninja ul reg. I have a freak on it. I put about 1000 rounds through it so far and am shooting PSP 3 mode. I rocks and trow paint as well as a cocker at twice the speed. No chops so far eye on or off. The trigger was a little sticky but once I adjusted that it just plain rips. You could spend more money and buy an Etek, an AXE, or even proto. None of these are as light, or quiet. As for air use I put 7 pods through and still have half my tank left 2000psi. For a dump spool that is poppet like gas use.

Life a RIOT!

G5

I just picked up a G5 last week and did nothing other than re lube with Monkey Poo. I put about 2 cases through it Saturday at CPX in open game. It stayed at 270 +/- 5 fps all day. I didn't have any other issues all day. At the end of the day I was very happy with this gun. One thing I did notice was that it did use quite a lot of air. I went out with a full 68/45 and got a full hopper and 4 - 5 pods and I was out of air. It seems like a bit of an air hog. I was using an old 12inch DYE Ultralight I had, and the gun still seemed to be quiet and accurate.
Well worth the price!

Does everyone run stock dwell? stock dwell is the lowest setting.
Would higher dwell + lower pressure help or hurt efficiency?
Just a though

stock / factory dwell is 12, but it can be set down to 10 ms.

wow typo in the manual. says dwell min/max 12/20
you are correct the lowest it will let me set it at is 10

Will it run ok on 10ms dwell?
I'm going to try it out next time I can shoot (I hate having neighbors & a tiny yard)
I lubed her up with some super slick lube I concocted. mixed dow33+triflow

Inconsistency is usually several things.
1. New guns tend to be less consistent than broken in guns
2. Paint that is poorly shaped or different sizes will cause lots of consistency problems.
3. Poor lubrication will cause the bolt to drag
4. Dwell set too low
