Tomb Raider

Why has nobody been talking about this game? I remember seeing the trailer and E3 last year and being completely blown away with the new direction of the game. Not to mention, the quality of damned near everything in it from voice acting, to animation, to gameplay mechanics, and the overall graphical fidelity.
Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are behind this one, so it gave me a lot of hope that they could pull through with their initial presentation of the game.

Well, I picked it up yesterday for PC and good god, hawt damn has it been worthwhile. I'm really digging the darker, more gory feel of the game. The story line thus far has been fantastic as well. It's been great to see Lara as a somewhat shy, conceded person that is not necessarily afraid of living up to her father's lineage, but honestly believes it isn't her path until she's forced to push through the very obstacles he was famous for. Even within the first 45 minutes of the game, there's a lot of character growth in her.

Also, dem graphics. Game is utterly beautiful and the new TressFX for rendering her hair completely blows my mind.

Anyone else enjoying this game as much as I am?

Picked it up on Tuesday for xbox. Seems to be a solid game. Makes me think of Uncharted a bit.

It definitely stole some mechanics from Uncharted, but I have absolutely no quarrel with that. Uncharted did things about as perfectly as an adventure game can do them. Although some of the mechanics are pretty similar, the game still has a very unique feel and atmosphere, so it pulls it off rather well.

I'm about 3/4 through and it's solid. Definitely humanizes a character that's been a joke so long. Some brutal stuff.

A huge part of why I like it so much. There's an actual story that grips you. Love when a game can transcend its characters so well. I'm not too far in, but I really hope it keeps up.

Definitely.

So far it seems pretty solid. I don't want to spoiler anything, but I did a quick check to see how many chapters there were, and I was about 3/4 through and it's holding up.

Not nearly as good as Uncharted, but what is?

It is, though, finally a great reboot for the series... and definitely opens it up for a lot of possibilities. I'm digging how she's sort of forced into all of this by necessity as opposed to just being this badass out of the gate. Shes' badass... yes, but not untouchable.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends, but sort of bummed it'll be over.
