That would be cool.

My storm trooper full tower would work great as a tank

So I bought this badass new light system yesterday. Actinic blue bulbs turn on at 0600, then at 1000 the daylight bulbs turn on, then at 1800 the daylight bulb turns off and at 2200 the actinic bulbs turn off and moonlight LEDs turn on. It's ****ing sick.

i really dig the new LED set ups, even for fresh water. i have been doing some homework on them they seem to work very well. the best part is a lot of the fixtures are significantly cheaper than metal halide and even t5/8 sets.

Yeah, the fixture itself wasn't cheap. At $300 you have to be pretty serious about it. However, and this is a funny story, I got it much cheaper.

So yesterday morning I sold my wife's car, which she was sad about, so we went to look at the LFS for something to cheer her up (ended up being everything in that box). It cost $200.

Fast forward to that evening.

I'm looking for a better lighting setup and petsmart didn't have ****, go figure. I called the LFS and he told me to come in and look at something. Obviously I did.

He had it all setup and ready to roll, price tag boldly read $329.99. I asked how much he wanted and he told me his wife would ring me up. She asks what I was buying and I pointed to the lights across the room. The following conversation happened, I swear. Mike = owner, wife = mike's wife

Wife: How much am I ringing up?
Mike: $160
Wife: Are you serious mike?!?!? That's a $300 light
Mike: Yeah, and that's Colin. Ring up $160 dammit.
Wife: Okay

Me:

Yeah it is, it's for my salt tank. I wouldn't have attempted corals if i had to pay full price for this light.

I learned that some types of anemones(sp?) clowns wont host at all, I remember when I first started and didn't even think of that until I was about to purchase the wrong one and the LFS reminded me that clowns prefer a certain type, dont ask me which one....

Here is a link with different types of anemones and what type of clown fish usually will host with it....

http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/ane...onematches.htm

Have you guys seen the crabs that attach a peice of anemone to their back for protection? There is another one that carries them, it looks like they are carry ponpon's lol

I know, it's sad We did bank $500 on it though. That softened the blow.

Payroll: My clown ignores my bubble tip, I may go swap it for a white carpet tomorrow. Not sure if I'm up to the care level though.

I went to house of tropicals today, pretty popular store. The staff were *******s and not only that, sold a fish I was in the process of buying. Such horse ****.

That was the place that was pretty close to my hotel, I was in there twice a week for the 10 weeks I was in Maryland.

Only bought a piece of drift wood from them, never really interacted with the staff so I couldn't comment on that.

I almost bought a blue ribbon eel, he was ****ing awesome. One staff member went to get bags while I payed, another employee showed up and bagged him up. He then proceeded to sell him to someone else I, literally, had $2,000 in my pocket I gladly would have spent. They blew it.

My LFS is getting my whole list tomorrow $500 worth of fish (liveaquaria prices) for $225.

My new night LED setup:

Blue throat trigger, reef safe, and very friendly. I fed him lunch by hand, he was very appreciative

Mother ****er just jumped out of the tank when I went to grab a new towel. Glass lids are firmly back in place, and he's back in the tank. Lol that was hectic.

Indeed. He's good sized too, maybe 5-6".

Remember that white fish at the entrance of house of tropicals? You need that.

Pretty neat fish, however, do not want.

Yeah, he was ****ing massive. Their saltwater selection was diverse, but over priced and VERY small specimens.

Yeah, in the time frame I was there, I never paid much attention to the SW stuff just because I can't have two tanks.

Once I move out of the dorms, I'll probably set my 29 up as a SW tank, to see where I can get with that. I'd really like to do something smaller for my first salt tank, but I know if you go small, you're going to have a harder time keeping everything in balance.

I have thought about doing like a 5 gal and just purchasing the RO salt water from the LFS, I'm not sure though.

The LFS has a fluval spec 5.5 on the counter that looks awesome, just not sure if I could make it work or not.

I like my 90. It seems to be the perfect size to have a couple medium fish and a few small fish. In my case a blue throat trigger as my medium and foxface, coral beauty, and clowns as my small fish. I've got some gobies, but they are invisible for some ****ing reason. They NEVER come out.
