FML.

As bad as this sounds, I just wish the fish would either get better or die.
I know how you feel. Either heal or end its misery, that's not bad at all.

I just don't see how the fish is living. It hasn't eaten in at least a week and is pooping this white stuff constantly.

I read that some fish can go a month without eating and not dying.

Here I was freaked out about not feeding my saltwater fish for 36 hours while I was out of town.

Octopus are so cool. Their requirements aren't that bad.

Yes but who knows the last time this fish ate?

These parasites don't really develop over night esp. when I saw he had it the first night he was here.

Regardless, a minimum of 8 days with no food.

Octopus are cool, I've just heard mixed reviews about them with people buying them and them killing everything in their tank.

That's true. I hope he pulls through.

Yeah, I've heard of them wreaking havoc too. Still ballin creatures

My blue throat started chirping today when I got home. He was chirping really loud when I starting feeding him, it was hilarious. He also plays in the stream of the new powerhead

When I had my GSP's they use to grunt when they would eat.

What's even funnier is seeing my clownfish tucked in the folds of their anemones sleeping. It's ****ing ADORABLE.

I thought my trigger was stuck, I still don't know if he was or not lol.

Only get a octopus if you can guarantee a locking top for your tank, otherwise they will escape and end up dead on your floor. There is video of a octopus somewhere even unlocking a lock, of course they give it the key to do it, but they are very smart creatures!!

Oh absolutely. I have a heavy glass top that's got multiple sections. I've also got duct tape to seal the edges.

I'm holding off on the octopus for now. He would run me about $100.

I did, however, get a sand sifting star, a really cool crab that I cant remember the name, and an algae blenny today.

So, the fish is still alive. I went and talked to the LFS, they went ahead and gave me the store credit they promised ($100) and said that if the other fish pulls through and makes a full recovery to bring him back or what ever I use the store credit on back.

Now I've gotta make some decisions.

They just don't want the sick fish back because they wouldn't have anywhere to put him where he may pose a risk to other fish on the same systems.

Good thinking on their part. What are you going to get?

There's a HUGE jack here for $80. He's absolutely massive.

you need a lot more than just a locking lid. they will snake through your filtration or any tiny gap they can. the tank literally needs to be air tight (or have no holes the size of their beak or larger.

if you want to find out if there are any openings in your set up just get an octopus, they will find it. i read a story on MFK of a guy w/ an octopus tank and a tank of fish and stuff across the room. the tank with the fish started having fish disappear. turns out one of the octopi got out, crawled across the floor and climbed into the other tank and was eating everything in it.

That would be pretty cool.

What size light fixtures do you have? I've got 3 or 4 actinic bulbs laying around you can have if you want. Just cover the shipping. I've got a **** ton of cichlid stuff now that I think about it, food and whatnot.

I don't have any special lighting. Currently its a 24" fixture from a 20gal starter kit on my 29.

Probably gonna end up with a Deep Blue 48" dual T5 bulb setup for my 75 Gallon.

Oh gotcha, I think these are smaller bulbs.

Turns out one of my anemones is a Mertens Carpet Anemone - Super Rainbow (S. mertensii). Ibluewater sells them for $465!!!! (Its towards the bottom on this link). Right now it's hosting a select pair of black and white ocellaris clowns. The other one I have is either a haddini or mertens white carpet with lime tips that hosts two ocelleris clowns.

http://ibluewater.com/anemone.html

Here's the mertens:

Here's the white, it's hard to get the lime tips:

You guys are killing me!

Once I graduate and get married (~1 year for the wedding, I graduate in the summer), I've got my tanks to set up, my computer to completely rebuild, and then I'm going to be buying a couple of service weapons (Police).

Colin, DO NOT get an octopus if you want to have any other inhabitants in your tank. Got one as a hitchhiker and it destroyed everything and then decided to go for a ride in my powerhead. Bastard made me restart my whole tank.
