Wasn't a big fan of ArmA II and DayZ because of how clunky and buggy it was. ArmA III seems to have fixed MOST of that, besides the horrible multiplayer optimization. I'm excited to see how it moves along.

I feel the need to ask.

Did you own ArmA II before DayZ or was it purchased specifically for DayZ?

I played a bunch on United Operations matches from 2011 to now and the immersion of the missions made me not care a single bit about the small problems like CQB and whatnot.

I played DayZ like.. once.

I bought ArmA II because won an invitation to a survival games style game for a trip to Japan (ended up being a scam, trip wasn't real). So I played 4 hours of tutorials the day before. Played the event and won. After that I tried DayZ just because I had ArmA. Didn't like it so I stopped playing.

Then Wasteland came about and I played quite a bit of that and had fun playing it.

I just never like the clunky movements, which in ArmA III seem ALOT more smooth.

Indeed, CQB has been completely fixed as well as movement, they seemed to knock the weight out of the weapons so it doesn't feel like you're running around with a cinderblock.

Weight has been added to choppers, which I'm ****ing grateful for.

ARMA 3 is a huge improvement over ARMA and ARMA 2 even in its Alpha state. Movement and the new stance system have really improved the feel of the game. Also the "tactical" movement speed makes CQB work much better as everyone already noticed. No more jogging and then frantically trying to shoulder your weapon around every corner!

Really excited to see how much better it gets at launch. It's already in a pretty good state.

Very much so, I love the new pace and stance system as well.

Played some night missions last night and the natural light is awesome, and I love how the ambient light looks when wearing NVG's. The explosions have greatly improved since ArmA II and the smoke trails along with dirt kick up from infantry helps a lot when trying to find people shooting at you from a ridge.

Choppers are much easier to fly now even with a keyboard and mouse due to the weight system they added to it.

Played some of the training courses and holy ****, when you fire on the AI they'll shoot back with covering fire so their fire-team can flank and engage you. This AI is 2spooky4me.

All in all, no more ArmA II for a while, lol.

The AI is really smart, but really dumb at times as well lol

I've been just goofing off in the editor a lot. I'll drop a bunch of enemy squad in a town or at the airfield and then run around trying to kill them all.

Sometimes the little *****es aimbot me in the face. Other times I'll have some retard come running at me like he's going to bunker me or some ****, and then he keeps on running past lol

ArmA III Time.

Getting ready to dust off for underwater incursion.

Ready to get out of the chopper but the waves engulfed us and we DIED.

Enemy forces engaging my friendly bros.

NEW MISSION

Little Birds were ****ing up the town and our Team Lead was pissed we weren't getting into the action so he told us to move up.

Engaging tangos.

I doubt we will see "DayZ" itself come to ArmA III as all of the crew will be working on standalone development.

There are already other ArmA III zombie mission files and mods being worked on though. DayZ invigorated the ArmA modding community, so I bet we will see something good. I would really like to see a alien invasion mod on ArmA

From my understanding the stand alone DAY Z is built using the ARMA III engine, but it's a standalone game (as oppsoed to just a toss in mod). This should eliminate a lot of the oddities of dropping it into an existing game, and so forth.

Helps the DAY Z creator works for Bohemia now and instead of just him working on it he has a small team.

I may have to try this out once I finish Tomb Raider (I really need to start finishing game before I buy more or they end up 3/4 complete on my shelf (xb/ps3) or just chillin' in my Steam account).

DayZ Standalone will not be using ArmA 3 engine, they're using a heavily modified Real Virtuality 3 (ArmA 2) engine. They will NOT be porting the free mod over to run on ArmA 3.

Yeah,
You're right. I was basing that off an old interview. Doing some digging now it appears Day Z SA is on a sort of gangstered engine from AII that's using pieces from all over the place, and heavily modified. So we'll see where it goes.

Back on track!

Cant wait until they optimize this game better so i can run everything ultra. So Pumped. But the game is fun, haven't had much problem with anything so far. just wish they'd put more weapons/scopes in.
