Rules were NOT updated on site. Coming to field an playing the way we did, we weren't aware of the rule change so that hurt us. New refs sucked at their calls because they were pulling people for rub and spray, not hits. Field layout was alright, tuf to play a lil but made for some interesting games. I think if they got away from playing a bunker right behind center 50 it would force more game play changing moves to happen on either side of the field

Ref's were horrible. The game before mine had a lot of snapping along with paint on the front of the bunker, after sliding into that bunker and shooting a lane, i was called out for the less than a dime size rub of paint on my hopper.

edit: for being the first event, i think everything else went great.

I thought the refs were below standard at the clinic...but I thought they did great on Field 1...only thing I think they do wrong is giving away the players positions...but Ill never complain about that...

One thing I saw that has changed from when I played was players getting shot...then picking up all there pods before they left the field...

Field 1 refs were good minus the one who kept pulling minors on us... Field 2 refs were awful when they put them on our field during the lunch break

The paint rub issue needs to be fixed as well...
I'm not singling out the new refs because I saw experienced refs only cleaning the front of bunkers or in general not giving a damn.

Not sure as to what the rule change is about,
But we were told after the event that since the start box on field 1 was so short we didn't have to tag up on it but our barrels had to be below our waist and behind it if we didn't. ( the start box closest to the cfoa trailer)

Overall was a good event, hopefully someone will remember to turn the heat on for the next one

Chris, you are a brave man for starting this thread! Love it!

We actually had a ref on the snake side pull a player out of the snake on the other team to do a "clean player" verification before the flag was hung. The other team had lost track of the G count and had no idea (due to a major) all of our players were gone. I did not witness this, but had more then 1 person who was on the snake side tell me about it.

As far as funny stories: our teammates dog was shot in the head from under the net and took it like a champ. No b*t**ing, whining, or crying unlike some of the players I saw!

All in all, if you ignore the 3+ hour delay, finishing in the dark, and freezing our a$$e$ off, it was a decent enough event.

Thought it went well for the first event.
Refs will gain more experience and get better as the season goes.
I just wish we could have had a faster turn around on games, finishing at 7:30 sucked

D4:

- Field was fun, props to them keeping it a mystery.

- Refs got some difficult calls right, but missed a few too. Overall I thought they were good for a first event.

- Our schedule had us playing the same side of the field every game so

for the scheduling system.

- Penalty calls were a bit inconsistent on what was a major and what was a minor.

- Right side chrono was off by 40fps and I was never chrono'd on the field so I shot about 330fps for the first few games (sorry to my opponents).

- Staff made a good call by rotating the refs and swapping fields at lunch so the prelims could keep rolling along so

to their effort. I even saw Brian out there in street cloths getting shot up to keep things on track.

- It would be nice to have some porta-pottys closer to the fields.

- Saturday games instead of Sundays would be awesome (but I'm sure that's a topic for another day since the schedule is set for the season).

Overall, it was a good first event but not great. I had fun and feel like I got my moneys worth.

You might be right...lol...I was hoping for more pics then ref talk...I actually saw more players that deserved minors and majors that were lucky they didnt get one...

I agree with Ombres13...I liked the layout...

I thought it was dark when D4 finsihed...I was packing up stuff and thought...WOW there still playing...While not good for tourney play...I bet it would be fun to play once in those conditions...

Last year u could play a race to 2 and move on cause of your overall points value out of the 3 matches we had the higher point value but because they had a higher point value the us on game one and three the moved on cause they won the match due to point value.

so I if understand...THEM moved on because in Match 1 (which Im guessing had no hang) they scored more points...so whoever scores the most points in 2 games moves on?....I KNOW we are not doing a True Race to 2...but in a race to 2..the team with the fastest hang would have won...Just FYI

I watched numerous players get away with wiping and hits not called by the refs, but hey its paintball **** happens.

I'm just ready for the second event.

Overall it was a decent event, Congrats to the 1st Place Winners.

I had no complaints except the damn chronos. One was reading me at 270, the other at 240 and 2 didn't work in the morning.

I thought the refs did well 7/10s of the time but yeah they missed some obvious calls however they made the hard ones too. I thought the overshooting call on field 2 was a bit extreme and the major on field 1 when the guy took a shot in his pack while bumping to the corner (didn't even shoot when he got there) was odd. Need to know what warrants a major, what's a minor.

Great event though, can't wait till the next!
