What's my marker?
Alright awhile back I got my hands on what I was told was a Proto Matrix Rail. Now at the time I was easing in to the paintball game and didn't know much. So I took the offer (got ripped off) and the gun leaked, so I stored it away and gave up. However recently I've been struck by the urge to get back into it. Pulled the bolt out started checking things meticulously ordered a complete O-Ring kit, and I was pretty confident my marker was a PMR 09. However I started searching for mods on ANSGear (?) and I came I started searching by brand (Proto) and It then separated into Proto Rail, and Proto Matrix. So I started google searching. A quick search for PMR 09 pulled up a handful of markers that looked fairly similar to mine but there were small things that were stylistically different. And I ended up coming across this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zOSe...ture=mh_l olz
My trigger is different. My regulator is different. The ASA is different. The bolt is the same. Basically anything under the chamber is different then what I'm seeing in the video and on google...
So I'll attach a picture, and more if needed, and can you guys tell me what've I got?
Sorry for the wall.
Thanks in advance!

your attached picture doesn't work for me.
But they started making the rail in 07 and it looked like this:

Looks like you got a 07 or 08 proto matrix rail.
From the picture it looks to be bone stock.
First things Id upgrade are backcap (if plastic) trigger & barrel.

The back cap is plastic. Almost stripped it out. My next question is, Is this a good marker to stick with? Should I even bother upgrading things? Or should I get rid of it?

if you just want something that works and to learn how to maintain a marker stick with it, pretty much you can upgrade everything on it to make it suit whatever you want.
performance wise, had to beat for the price, but definitely get a better back cap and feedneck.
I might still have the ones from mine....

Hmmmm. I'll have to see about upgrades. Or just ditching it all together. I was looking at invert minis.

Honestly the pmr is probably just as good as a mini if you weigh pros and cons. It's reliable, pretty simple design. Upgrades are just as far and wide as the mini. And all and all it's a pretty quiet, consistent shooter. Like he said upgrade the feedneck an back cap and you got a good shooter

i had a friend that had one of those and it was a pretty good gun. he ended up putting a UL frame on it and i think that was the only upgrade he did, the ul frame comes with a new board and trigger too....the plastic back caps work fine as long as you over tighten them and strip it.
they shoot pretty nice and are reliable so long as you take the time to clean and grease the bolt after your done playing.

i loved my PMR. def get a metal backcap. you can get a roller trigger for under $10 if you look a lil. all the upgrades for it are cheap at this point and its a solid marker as long as you maintain it

I'm sorry, but I'd strongly suggest moving away from this platform.
It's inconsistent and faulty on so many levels and really isn't worth upgrading and I know that's going against what everyone else has stated here.
If you had a PM, that's a different story as those were discontinued because they became too close to being a DM and those are well worth their price.
How much did you pay for the PMR?
And if you do keep the PMR, I'd suggest these changes:
Hybrid ToolLess metal backcap
Virtue Redefined
NDZ trigger of some sort
and DEFINITELY pay attention to how you lubricate and maintain it.
I think the biggest difference would be to find an NDZ Pro-Lite frame. Those are basically Dye UL frames that don't suck in any way whatsoever and are about half the price now. They're lighter, more durable, and have perks like a snatch grip and frame room.

Still using my 07 PMR for everything, only ups it has is cp reg, clamping feedneck (buy the collar only) and a cp sling trigger. Keep up basic maintanence on it and it'll last forever. I've only had to rebuild the gun with fresh o-rings once.
