Seventh Element is closing

Alright so I don't know if this is common knowledge or what, but Seventh Element Paintball Inc is closing. I ordered a pair of dm7 eyes from them last week and they were due to show up to my house tomorrow but I just got an email saying they're closing up their business so they refunded me. From what I hear they had some good boards and I saw first hand they had affordable laser eyes so this news kinda sucks.

Here's the email I received...

Dear Customer,

We are extremely sad to inform you we have been forced to close our business.
Your recently purchased item has not been shipped but we have issued a full refund. You should have received a confirmation email from us regarding the refund.
We do apologize if this has caused inconvenience for you

Hope we can serve you with a better circumstance.
Thank you

Seventh Element

Unfortunate, they were a cheap and good alternative when it came to boards.

Sad to see them go.

Lucky for you, they refunded you your money. There are other paintball companies out there that have closed shop and aren't refunding money...

If I had to guess, I'd say that the stock boards coming out keep getting better and better. Not many people buy aftermarket boards anymore.

Doubtful it was all virtue, it's the fact that stock boards are essentially the same as any upgrade board apart from personal preferences, and minor differences. Tadao used to be huge, now look where they are, virtue is expanding into other markets, etc... There just isn't much use for aftermarket boards, just about every new electronic gun comes with adjustable firing settings, long gone are the days where guns only cae stock with semi, burst, and uncapped ramping.

Not sure about that, Scenario dreams had the $10 board for a while. No lcd or OLED but damn it worked.

That. I don't think it was a single company I think it was just the stock boards these days are so good there's no point in spending $200 on an aftermarket board that doesn't add much.

Though 7E was good at not charging out the ***, my guess is they couldn't make enough money to make it worth it.

Not sure why they don't sell new boards for old guns... I know every angel owner would jump at the chance for a tadao for their angel. All sorts of guns are without boards who would be happy with even an OLED board to replace their stock or broken board.

Is plenty a thousand? two thousand? five hundred? You have to understand that to make a product feasible to come to market you need a minimum amount of sales pretty much guaranteed, or at least a big enough market to make your investment, R&D, and production costs back. The market simply isn't there for old guns, which are mostly sitting on shelves or in a box tucked away, to justify all of the costs associated with releasing a new product.

Right now angel owners who can afford the parts to do so are modifying for PMR boards. Many angels are in need of new boards.
I know shocker owners would love a new board that didn't use the upper and lower boards and didn't use the more and more rare ribbon eye. A more sturdy bounce beam eye for SFTs would sell very well.

Right now they aren't getting good sales because who wants to pay $200 for an OLED screen?
However, if you make mods to fix the weak parts on guns that have never been addressed outside of modding communities in 1 of 1 projects you could do very well.

But the problem is that you need to make the boards and then pump them out at a price that the owners will buy that will get you a nice amount of sales while still making enough to keep you afloat.

Excuse me? Sir, have you even HEARD of Seventh Element (You know, the company this thread is about)?

http://www.ansgear.com/Seventh_Eleme...rds_s/3213.htm

Those aren't new prices either, that's what they've been going for for a LONG time now.

ot; i love how most people ignore snake now, raises my view of the community =)

I think these guys made great boards for the price points they sold them at, I may have to grab an UL board before they run out of stock at vendors, and their customer service wa spretty good as well. Sad to see an affordable board option go by the wayside but like others have said, stock boards have improved so much, and so many are offered with an lcd or oled screen stock now it makes it hard for aftermarket companies. Need to be like virtue and kila and expand your product base to survive and be able to still offer boards to people at good prices.

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
If you have questions, please post them in the Talk to Mods/Admins forum.
