It's a hard knock life
Alright guys. I've got some cash coming my way along with a marker of my choice. I figured, I've got it why not go high end.
Now I've looked hardcore into the Vanguard Demon. So far I like it. But the 2012 can be found around the 600 range, the new ones are around 1300. What's the difference? Is the difference enough for me to spend the extra 700?
Or are there any other recommendations? I'm open to ideas. Luxe is a thought, but their efficiency ranges too much for me to seriously consider it. And of course I can't find anywhere/anyone in Omaha to let me try any new markers.
I currently shoot an ego 10 but I'm not big on how loud it is and I feel like I could get more out of a marker.
Thanks guys!

I would suggest a used MacDev Clone GT over the Demon. MD markers have better fit and finish, much better ergos, and shoot better too IMO (and amazing CS now with Aggressive Sports). Also the drivetrain is proven to be dependable unlike the 2013 Demon which is so far unproven.

I have looked into the GT. the videos I've seen prove it to be a quiet (which is HUGE for what I'm looking for) and smooth shooting gun. But I was not impressed with the efficiency I think the guy got like 7 pods off a full tank

Also, ergo is important. I need to be comfortable when shooting. My ego 07 is one of the more uncomfortable ones I've shot - I've got huge hands.
What do you mean by drivetrain?

That video is crap, the Clone is the most efficient spool, I can shoot 6 pods off a 45/45 with my VX lol.
The GT is pretty stretched out, so if you have big hands it will fit you great honestly.
Drivetrain is the internals of the gun, also referred to as engines. It's the bolt, valve, power tube, ect, assembly.

The GT can get 9 and a half pods easy, some people get as many as 11 with a good underbore from a 68/4500.

I'm a little iffy on the lv1. I like egos, and this one has a lot of new features but not entirely sold. As for the vanquish, I'm not really impressed. Especially for a 1500 dollar marker.
That being said, Macdev is the way to go. Vanguard is a sketchy company and I've really liked what I've seen/heard about the clone gt. Come to papa

The GT has much better efficiency than 7 pods. Must've been a bad video you watched.

Have you been to the macdev forum?
http://www.pbnation.com/forumdisplay.php?f=274
Tons of gt problems leaks boards screen in some "batches" and fsdo and lube problems
If you are good at tuning things right and fixing if u get a bad batch
And the macdev forums have way more
Look at the ego11 forum see how many problems their are and than think about the gt lol this would scare me of buying a gt

FSDO is almost always a result of improper lube practices and/or oring fitment. It's not a gun problem nor a "lube problem" it's user error. The new GTi valve is spring ready and will most likely eliminate this entirely anyway.
The screens are cheap ~$30 and have been rectified. Not to mention the GTi will be ~$100 and gives you a board with a pressure monitor and some new grips.
The GT is a VERY solid gun if your IQ is even marginally higher than that of the gun itself.

I don't think this justifies all the problems that people post like
Brand new out the box and leak!
Or first time using and screen is bad
The screen being cheap 30 dollars doesent justify either
Your paying over 1000 dollars for a marker and it has these problems
This is why eclipse is what it is.

The bad solenoids and boards were when the GT had just been released. Aggressive Sports provides great CS now if you were to have a problem.

Like Blue said, leaks are very commonly user error, and just because a few people are posting about these problems doesn't imply that there are a higher percentage of MacDev guns that are lemons.

Please link all said posts and we'll look at them on a case by case basis. If you're somehow implying PE guns never had issues, then the ego9 and the early etha spring issues are a counterpoint. Not to mention, IMO, the performance of the ego and geo aren't on par with most other high ends. Shoot a $429, then shoot a $1350 Geo 3. They function and consequently shoot very similarly. The ego11 is much better comparatively to it's competition, but a G6R is smoother, quieter and more efficient. You can read into it whatever you want, but PE's designs compromise performance for simplicity/ durability and the LV1 is the first real attempt for them to do otherwise.
