Need help settling on a marker.
Hi all.
Getting back into paintball after 10+ years. I would like to buy a decent package and could use some advice on markers. I am nearly settled on an Empire axe, but would like to hear if anyone would recommend otherwise. I plan to buy used. My considerations when choosing are: Reliability, customer support, projected resale value. Accuracy, maintenance, and efficiency are also on my mind. I like the streamlined design of the axe. I would like something relatively quiet and smooth shooting. I don't mind upgrading parts if that means a better shooting gun, but I also could consider buying something else to begin with that would negate the need to upgrade. I know I will be upgrading at least the barrel on the axe and want to buy a lower feedneck, if I decide on that gun.
I drool over the geo 3. is this normal?
What I am considering:
Empire axe
Dye Rotor
68/4500 or 70'ish/4500 tank (I am 6'3" with long arms)
Empire E-flex
Pants, jersey, elbow guards.
I bought a pack already.
My budget is flexible when it comes to makers. Obviously I am aiming towards 400 for a used axe. But that would become at least 450-500 with a barrel and feed neck depending on how much I get an axe for.
any advice would be appreciated!
thanks.

I don't personally own an Axe, but two guys on my team have them and they both love them. And I don't really think you need a Rotor. They are great, but overpriced (unless you can find a good one used).

I'm going to PM you a few hints.
I suggest a ninja tank and I use a CP reg extender on my axe, a lurker bolt and barrel for the axe, and I do like my rotor.

Do you use the reg extension to get the right feel with your tank? What size tank are you running and could the same effect be had by starting with a different tank? Ie: a 77, or 72 /4500.

I played with an Axe for a month or so this summer and it's definitely a good choice.
As blue said, Ninja tank, although I doubt you'll need a reg extender. I'm 6'2" with long arms and I opt to play with an Empire 48/45 with a longer reg and shorter tank, and since a Ninja tank is just a tad bit longer than that you should be golden with it.

Right on. Thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards a 68/45 then since a huge majority of people find that setup perfect. I will have to check out different regs though to see how the spacing is.

I use a 56/45 and yes the reg extender is because I'm 6' I need to lengthen the setup. My arm tucks closer to the tank that way and keeps me from chicken winging too. I also use a ninja pro reg so I don't have anything digging in my wrist when I off hand shoot.

It's preferential but to me is worth the money.

Yes get a pro reg and remove all shims like me and I think it runs 450 psi
I have an axe I bought new. Thursday was my 8th case. I love it so much It hasn't Brocken a single ball. I still can't believe it.
A rotor is what I think u should get I see a lot of people with their hoppers fail like halo too and all those lil hoppers I got my v3 rotor for 150 new ansgear if u buy used I'm sure you can get for cheaper
Also I think you should get jt proflex or events of combine them and buy a eflex like me lol. It's a great mask. I used a 15 dollar mask for 1 year than I bought my eflex and thought yea these are pretty nice but I can't REALLY tell the difference. So one day I wear my old 15 dollar mask
I kid you not it felt like sand paper on my cheeks and really heavy!! I was like wow. You really get what you pay for lol
I hope you atleast buy the mask new
Also if you get lucky and buy used axe that is the newest version I don't think you need the feedneck
Old axes have a board (Optimus) that has a button inside to change modes dwell etc. the newer axes have a shockwave board that is better hence you don't need to open battery door for programming and come with the new stronger feedneck
