Another which gun should I buy, but a tad different

I used to play 7 years ago, and I knew quite a bit about the sport then. However, it has changed almost completely since then. I know everyone has preference on the gun they shoot. I used to be hardcore into Angels, and I was told they went out of business as well as Smart Parts. I went and played some scenario woods ball yesterday and had a blast. I want to get back into recreational playing like once or twice a month, playing speedball and woods ball. What would be an alright gun, without spending a fortune? All this new technology and eyes and software numbers and this and that confuses me and I've got lots of learning to do. I've been thinking of getting like a DM9 or a little newer, but the DM11 and DM12s are like 700+ still and I don't wanna spend that much when I still need a hopper, tank, goggles and gear to play. Thanks for all the help guys!

You would probably like the Axe or Etha. Both are really good and not expensive.

Depends on how much youre looking to spend on a gun...

500-600 most on a gun. I've seen some Angels for cheap, however they are out of business so parts could become hard to find...A bundle deal would be ideal for 600-700 for me

Strong play.

You were an Angel man back then? Go buy one. They are cheaper than dirt right now.

I've seen those egos for cheap, but know absolutely nothing about how they shoot. My biggest complaint yesterday was, people were shooting ropes by my head, and I was lobbing paint to barely reach them. Granted I was using a stock Tippmann Crossover and a Tippmann x7. I think I'll pass on Angels since they went outta business. I'm looking at a DM9 locally in silver with a tank for 550 obo currently or some Proto Rails for 200 bucks for 09-11s

I found a G7 locally for 250 bucks at a Paintball shop/field but knew nothing about the newer ones and it was an ugly dark blue... What worries me was how it shot being 6 years old and them being out of business, everyone around here says stay away as parts and fixing them is a PITA now..

As long as it works there is no reason to find parts. I have a 2k2 GZ timmy that I mow faces with, and it has 5 years on the G7

Good point....I loved my Angel LCD, my fly and my angel speed. I'm just leaning towards a newer Dye matrix for some reason

The DM6, 7 and 8 are excellent. A bit of a jump would be a DM9, the body style hasn't changed much since the DM9, and the trigger frame hasn't changed much since the DM6.

pretty much any used high end from 07+ will do you well. not much has changed marker wise since then. there are a lot nicer options in the mid-range market now though compared to what used to be nil.

With your budget I would suggest getting a newer marker, less problem (ideally), and easier to maintain. Plus parts are more readily available.

For 4-500 I would get the AXE, after all its just personal preference. It is a tournament winning marker though. (Yes I know it's more about the player than the marker itself)

Thanks for all the info guys, I think I'm torn between a Proto Reflex Rail 2013 or a DM12..I'm skeptical about buying used, especially with people who buy and resell guns every other day because ya never really know at first what kind of a gun you bought and how it was maintained.

Yo! before buying, I'd suggest checking out the link in my signature that's green. It kind of sums up (not really, it's a bit elaborate) modern gear and what's worth what, so forth.

And Honestly, I'd offer you check out the Angel 06 Speeds (or just go for the GAT edition, lighter, cooler, and about $300. They can still score about 1600+ per 68/45. That's not bad at all.)

Snag one of those, an Evil pipe kit for about $35, an Invert Too with the magna internals for about $50 and some random 68/45 for like $70-$90 like an LP Crossfire. Shazam.

Hell, that's my setup. But I use a Rotor and a Freak kit instead of an Invert Too and Evil Pipe.
