The SLP reg knocks down the output pressure of the tank to the 275psi range before putting it into the marker to be further regulated by the HPR and LPR. The "kick" and "sound" occurs during the cycling of the marker, well after the marker receives air from the tank. The SLP regulator on your tank will have no bearing on these two factors.
