Post-to-bump system flaws.
I came here to voice my opinion about this system. I believe it's complete crap. I started on this website in 2007 and it was much easier and less spam-filled back then. Whoever decided it was a good idea to increase the overall number of posts on the forum by about 500% each day is a complete idiot.
The reason I say this is because I've been trying to sell a pair of pants for about 2 weeks now. I've had 7, and I'll spell this out; S-E-V-E-N people show interest in my pants. 4 who have asked for Paypal info to send payment to. When I send them a private message, they don't respond.
The thought process is that if I'm looking to increase my posts to shave off the ALMOST INEXISTANT bump time of 4 hours (which back in 2007 was 24 hours), I can avoid post spam by showing interest in someone's for sale thread even if I'm not interested. BUT HELL IT'S STILL A POST, LOL.
I guess instead of just ranting and raving about how much horse**** this system is I will offer a solution. Remove this "perk" from the BST forums and leave it to the others, such as the technical forums and Small Talk or whatever. I'm getting really ****ing tired of sending out my paypal info to these people and them not sending a payment.

Well if they're not going to respond to a direct Private Message, they are not going to respond to a post in my thread.

Then it would have notified me that the message had not even been sent.
I sent it, they read it and chose not to reply for whatever reason.
Edit: And that's happened with 7 different people.

How is the bump button connected to people not following through and paying you for your pants?

The "every 20 posts you make today (that aren't spam) count toward shaving off time that you would originally have to wait for" feature is what I'm griping about.
Showing fake interest in my thread counts as 1 post, and also abides to the "no post spamming threads" rule.

Exactly my point. But you cannot go just anywhere in PbNation to up your post count without making something that will eventually be considered as spam.
PbNation's views on the subject are to up the post count for whatever reason, but give out infractions to people that are making unnecessary posts. But PbN mods can't justify giving out infractions for someone making 100+ posts a day in the BST section saying the same thing. Thus, a loophole appears.

That isn't quite true. If you see a spammer in BST then report them and we will look into it. Unfortunately I think you are trying to tie post count into some of your deals that fell through. The two subjects are not related though.
