Well 30 fps less would do it. I'd save the speculation until you can shoot it over a chrono.

Buy yourself a chrono. All this "seems like it shoots fine" etc isnt enough info for anyone to help you. I bet you can find one on the forums for about $40.

NT + cold + fragile paint is gonna be a nightmare no matter what.

I found some good deals on chronos, but I don't know if I really need one. I suppose I could buy one and then just sell it if I stop using it.

Anyway, I raised the pressure to about 140 just to see what would happen. Shot a pod and there were no breaks. So it's looking good. Granted this was the Walmart paint that isn't quite as brittle, but it shot fine still. We'll find out what the velocity is either when I get a chrono or this weekend when I go to my field. That's all I have to say until then.

You always need a chrono for troubleshooting any marker.

Get yourself one of those rectangular grey ones, X radar. Don't waste your time with those useless yellow things that look like a stopwatch.

Look, 2 months with my nt11 in average 30 degree weather has taught me that 10ms is more that enough for temps below 30. And if you're lucky to get a day in the 40's, 9ms is fine.

Lube is extremely important, too. 33 got my NT11 cycling, but it got so cold that the lube put extra wear on orings because it was so thick. I was seeing slivers of rubber after I wiped my bolt down on the shop towels I was using. So I tried mixing some gold cup with 33, and voila, no more extra wear & tear.

Also, over here everyone who overbores is having the same issue. One barrel break gets wadded up because it's so thick, blocks the next ball, and the next and before you know it your bolt is stuck. All brands of paint, all kinds of guns. I don't overbore, I slightly underbore....and everything is fine.

Last week, with low 40's I had a pressure of 130, dwell of 9ms and got a steady 280,81 velocity with an underbore.

I was kind of thinking the same thing about over and under-boring. If you break a ball when you underbore slightly the next shot can clean the barrel out somewhat.

Anyway, what insert and spacer (if any) were you using?

I've been watching too much of the American Pie movies.

I have a chrono coming soon so that will solve any other problems.

Better watch out, Hore is on the prowl.

I think most people don't use the spacers, but I'm sure some people do.

I do not use any spacers only increase the dwell until the bolt work well every time down the regulator increased the dwell, cold weather probably put that dwell to 12 13 or more until the bolt work well.

So I got my chrono in the mail the other day and I had a chance to shoot some more paint through it today. Weather was colder than last time. Mid 20's with ~30mph wind.

All is good for now it looks like. I first shot with the stock barrel back and it was chrono-ing at like 340. Good to know that I shot a pod through it at this speed before and I had no breaks (this was before I had my chrono so I was just eyeballing it). Once I turned it down it was still fine. I tried again with a .680 back which increased the velocity a bit more so I turned the pressure down just a bit and now it's shooting right around 300 fps. Shot a pod through it and no breaks.

Keep in mind that this paint is the stuff I bought at Walmart. It's RPS Stinger, and to be honest it's not that bad. No dimples or anything. Every ball I tested broke when dropped from just below waist height. I'm not sure how that compares to other more fragile paint, but it seems pretty good. Please chime in if you have an opinion on this.

So here are the settings I wound up with that are currently working:

-Dwell 12
-Green insert
-Yellow spacer (probably don't need it)
-.680 barrel back
-Pressure around 110-120
