that's a lot of particulates. did you filter it before moving it into the fermentation bucket?

Tried lol. The strainer didn't want to work. Will autosiphon higher in the fermenter.

Been talking about doing this for a while.
Where did you store it for fermentation? My biggest issue is no basement, though if I start soon I could do it on the patio for one batch at least.

I have it in my room fermenting right now, roughly 70F.
Not ideal, but...do with what you got.

What is the ideal temperature for doing this? If it's like 60* I could pretty much never do it.

Tricep pic and vascularity. Duh.
Also, will be bottling this on 22MAR. So I'll bring a bottle or 3 up for you. Just make sure to store them in a cool/dry place out of sunlight for at least 2-3 weeks before you drink them.

Do you have a siphoning setup, or a second storage container for bottling? Or are you going straight unfiltered style?

very cool.
You've inspired me to finally pick up a beer making kit as soon as I pay down all the stuff I currently have charged(probably a month, 2 at the most) and brew a batch. I've been thinking about it for a couple of years now.

Not really a fan of Sam Adams, but got on of the variety packs with the MP Porter in it and it was certainly delicious. Definitely something that I could drink 2-3 of after dinner.

are you using hop bags and irish moss? was the strainer just clogging? what you can do is take a large spoon after to cools and stir it quickly to make a whirlpool. It'll suck the particulates to the bottom and center of the boil kettle. then use your auto siphon to transfer the beer through the strainer and into your fermentation vessel. With a dark beer it won't matter for clarity but the texture might be kinda off and there's the risk of off flavors.
and to whoever asked about fermentation temps about 67-68 is the sweet spot. Lower and the yeast aren't as active and higher they start to make off flavors. 70 is a good mark for farmhouse style belgian ales like saisons though as the off flavors are built into the style of the beer.
ps there's a homebrewing thread in OSST.
