89-95 SHO were v6 made by Yamaha. 96-99 were v8s with the cam problems.
OP:Buy a Ford service tech manual. SHOs weren't covered in the Haines or Chiltons manuals.

Yeah friends dad who owned the body shop at a ford dealer had a green 96 sho for a while as a demo car. It moved for a women's typical grocery getter. Wish my mom got it instead of the 96 grand am GT she bought. Well it's also a good thing she didn't get the ford probe either though.
Does yahama make any other v8 or v6 engines besides their marine **** ? I love their 2 cylinder 2 strokes for boats . They are great for out engining smaller boats .

I wouldn't say that a V8 SHO is a wise car to own unless the cams were welded. They are notorious for failing and killing the motors.
Yamaha was involved with the 2JZ and they also helped with the IS-F motor.
