Hey, 'Nation!
I'm teching someone's Tippmann A5 that they apparently cleaned in water, forgetting that it had an E-grip on it. The modes all still work, however the switch is now not controlling the board as it should. On full-automatic mode, it just keeps shooting with the trigger not pulled, then as soon as you pull the trigger, it stops. Same with semi mode, it'll fire when the trigger is released, not pulled. Any electrical engineers out there that can help? I'm thinking it's a short, I've looked at the board and he has left it to dry thoroughly for nearly three months. Any suggestions?

Tippmann no longer carries the older style boards. Although your friend can send in his broken e-grip to Tippmann and upgrade to the HE selector switch e-grip for $50.

Other options are to upgrade to an aftermarket board like the APE rampage board or Virtue board.

Actually, though, we're trying to repair the board, not replace it. He has the ability of firing it semi-automatic mechanical, so that's not an issue, we're just trying to get the board operational again. I was wondering if anyone was able to tell me exactly what part of the board would be shorted (I'm fairly confident it's a short, as it's pretty difficult for a component to switch polarities like it did just from damage...). Thanks for the help, though!

I would start off by checking the continuity of the switch. Maybe the water got inside the switch and made it reverse it's NC and NO connections.

Use an ohmmeter to check for the resistance among the pins on the switch.
