recently a guy i know bought an ar-15 setup for 22lr.. its one thing if you have like 3 AR's and your trying to practice.. but he doesnt.. it just seems silly to me.. if your going to buy an AR buy a friggin AR.. all a 22 is good for is putting holes in paper, and training you to grossly underestimate the amount of recoil a real one is capable of

I bought mine to train with the platform, shooting almost 16,000 rounds through it has been leaps and bounds cheaper than it would've been for the real round... not to mention its a lot more enjoyable for people who don't normally shoot rifles, like beginners and women.

right these are the reasons why i have a Baretta Neos. its alot easier and cheaper to practice pistol shooting,, but i bought it AFTER i bought my glock, and i also had no illusions to the fact that its NOTHING like shooting a real pistol.. its just to work on aiming and trigger control.

if you buy a training firearm and think its going to be anything like shooting the real version

your gonna have a bad time

I've built a number of AR's, and we already had one in 5.56 when I bought my 22. The 22 is also a full size, full weight one, so bringing the gun up and getting that line of sight on target was just building muscle memory, hence the reason for buying it. Spending $400 on 16,000 rounds of ammo, opposed to $4,000 seems a bit more reasonable and logical to me.

I'm not new to shooting, personally, at all. And the blanket statement of it being anything like a real version is a cop-out too. Every firearm shoots, feels, and controls differently. Your Neo might work for you, I personally found them to be garbage, and would rather have an M&P-22, even if it's a "fake" version for training.

It's all subjective, no one likes the same guns, that's why there are so many different ones. As I've stated, I personally am not a fan of Glocks and how they feel, my buddy is a Glock Armorer and he doesn't like my USP either, to each their own.

There's a different type of 54R than comblock surplus?

I'd be interested in seeing that empirical paper, if you don't mind. I'm sure you can support that claim with proof, since you said it on the internet and all.

Yes, Herter's makes nicer Russian stuff for hunting applications. Not sure if they still do or not, but Norma, Hotshot, Winchester, Lapua, Privi, Hornady, and Sellier and Bellot make it. Or did... Idk who does and doesn't anymore, Scheels in Mankato had almost all of it at one point, then a bunch of it sold and you could only find that variety at Ahlman's.

I only know this because I've almost bought a handful of different Romanian PSLs

USP's didnt impress me for what they cost.. i would've rather had a 1911 if i was willing to spend what a USP generally runs.

i would like to consider myself a flexible shooter, ive only shot a few different pistols, i liked the sig, and i liked the USP (though as i said, i wasnt particularly blown away by it, i like baretta's i dont care for XD's, i dont like they way they feel, and ive been wanting to try out an M&P for awhile now.. i own a glock, but that was also the first pistol i ever bought, i had no previous experience before then

so im partial to Glocks because thats what ive learned on. but im sure i can learn how to be accurate with any pistol if given some time to practice

1911's can be nice, but I think they're generally way overpriced.

I snagged my USP for a song, and had been impressed every time I shot one prior to purchasing. I always loved shooting Sig's as well, so when I bought mine for a couple hundred under what it was supposed to be, I jumped. I also got lucky that it was a limited run that had every option and mod I wanted.

I don't care for XD's either, I get grip frame bite from them, no idea how, but their safety literally cuts into the webbing of my hand, every time.

M&P's are nice, for the money its a good gun, but I don't think I'd ever go out of the way to buy one, but I've only shot the 9mm's too.

Glocks are nice guns, I just get uncomfortable after shooting them for a day and the frame angle isn't for me.

There's no such thing as a bad gun either, even a Jennings can be worth while if you're willing to take the time to make it worth it...and it was cheap enough.

Recoil? AR? Wut.

A 22 is a great way to learn the fundamentals. Plus, with the way the market is, he probably did the wise thing until things die down.

HK's arent worth their pricetag.

If you want to shoot an M&P, you're welcome to mine whenever. M&P9FS w/ apex sear and striker block (before they sold the kits), and about 10k rounds.

Reminds me, I should buy some spare springs and whatnot.
