First Woodsball/Milsim gun for a first timer.
Hi guys, it will be my first time buying a paintball gun.
I am stuck on the decision of a tippman x7, bravo one, or sierra one.
I will be buying used.
I also am thinking of an x7 phenom.
What do you guys think is best?
I do not want to buy a non accurate paint chopper.
If you guys have other ideas on what gun to get, please let me know.
I am on a limited budget.
Thanks
Ivan
P.S no speedball guns

The Bravo One and Sierra One (aka Alpha Black and Project Salvo) are pretty much the same marker, just with added pieces to give them that milsim look. Internally, they are Tippmann 98s. I used to use the Project Salvo with the Tippmann Cyclone Feed, never chopped paint with it and it did its job well.
Never used an X7, but I hear good things. Also check out the A-5, it has an MP-5 feel to it, I hear good things about it myself.
Head to your local proshop or paintball field, ask around and get a feel for these markers.

Back in August when I started playing I had the dame mindset as you and I started with a Valken SW-1. Being former military I wanted nothing to do with speedball markers but they are much more consistent then the guns you named. I also got tired of the remote line keeping me from switching hands and leaving me more exposed trying to fire with my weak hand.
Anyway if you want to stay Milsim I'd look at the Empire TM series or a PE Etha because you can get a Milsim body for the Etha. A good reason to get a marker from Empire is their great customer service.

The x7 phenom is a great marker and probably one of the most customizable. It is also easy to clean and maintain unlike the alpha black and project salvo which are spring loaded nightmares.

My sons and I started playing with used Tippmann 98C's and an A5. They have all been trouble free and shoot well. The A5 always goes with me in case another marker starts acting up. My only mod is a CP barrel, but I could go nuts with milsim add ons. I haven't shot an X7, but there are a few at our field, and everyone seems happy with them.
Lots of cheaper ones for sale all the time. I usually pay $30-$50 for a 98 and I scored the A5 for $80. (Usually $100- $500 used depending on the options.)

I'd look at the Trracer. Very customizable, reliable, consistent, plus it can shoot First Strikes if that's your thing. It also won't suck if you want to ever play on an airball court. However, it is pump (comes with a autotrigger which helps make up the difference) so that takes some getting used to. You could also take a look at the Hammer 7. They're both very cheap as well, saving you money for HPA tanks, barrel kits, paint, gas, etc.
If you can afford it I'd suggest a TM7. Very nice as well.

My dad shoots a x7 Phenom and he loves it. He also has an a5 that has never given him problems. My biggest suggestion would be to stay away from all the realistic looking milsim markers. I used to want my 98 Custom to look like a real gun, and I finally got it to. But then I learned very quickly that it just adds weight and bulkiness, so I sold it. You can still play woodsball with a speedball marker (that's what I do when I play woods ball), or some markers (like the Etha) have milsim kits to make them more like woodsball markers.

I also have a Tippy A5 which I team with my TiPX for some games as well as to have something that I know is going to work no matter what.
Borrow from other players to try the feel of them.
Determine just how important form vs. function is to you.
Remember that the more milsim it is, the harder it's going to be to clean. Those picatinny rails really love paint.
Most important, once you're hooked, you'll most likely turn into a gun whore like everyone else and will buy and trade guns like crazy just wanting to try them all.
I'm on my third A5 and second TiPX now from just wanting to try new things.
Finally, you can play woodsball with a speedball gun, but a lot harder to play speedball with a woodsball gun.

i don't think it got posted yet but find a bt tm7 or a tm15 they will kill any of these tippmann markers that have been mentioned... the tm7 is lighter and shoots amazing. it will keep up with any speedball gun but has the milsim look

Is it a Phenom or just an X7? Also, you're going to want to pick up an HPA tank (with a remote line you could get away with a 3000psi). Also, is it electro or just mechanical?

I thought they were all electros. The only ones I've seen are so highly modified, you can barely tell they're paintball markers. Sound like machine guns too!

Double check with the seller and make sure it's a Phenom. Otherwise, depending on the condition, that's a pretty good deal.

I'd highly recommend a Tippmann. When it comes woodsball, there aren't as many markers out there that are as reliable and easy to maintain. I mostly play scenarios and have run with a number of different markers, but my Tippmanns give me no issues when it's time to hit the field. Also, remember while electro's will give you a higher rate of fire and more sensitive trigger pull, they can also give you more problems if not properly taken care. The phenom (and crossover) can give you best of both words by being electro-pneumatic.

Woodsball, go Tippmann. Reliable and indestructible, what else does one need from a woodsball gun?

The Phenom is good but the TM-7 is better. With the difference get a APEX Barrel and blow you mind.
