What is the best time to lift?
maybe I'm over thinking this but I recently got back into lifting while I was recovering from a concussion. I'm in the military and they put me on a limited profile and the only way to productively spend my designated physical training time was to lift. All I'm looking to do is gain a little lean muscle mass and increase my strength. I'm not looking to get big. So now that I have to attend PT I have a couple options of when to lift:
1. before PT
Pros: it's a good morning workout and I can use the base gym
Cons: I normally do enough that my arms and shoulders are exhausted so I'd drag *** at PT
2. on non PT days
Pros: Can lift before work in the AM
Cons: unless I get a gym membership I'd be limited to two days a week
3. After work on PT days
Pros: can use the base gym
Cons: maybe the timing of a late evening workout.
Anybody have any inputs? Right now I'm just using whey as an additional protein source post workout in the morning. Would I be better served by casein if I switch to the evening or should I consume whey post workout and then casein a couple hours before I go to sleep?
