Just looking at the appa today there are no teams signed up for d-5. Suppose there are only 3-4 teams on d5 would they play with the d-4 teams? Also would that effect their prizes as well or would they play a finals among them selves for prizes? I'm not on a d5 team my team will be playing d4 without me damn work lol just curious.

Maybe chad will let us know what will happen if only like 4 teams show up for d5. Will they play with the d4 for a d4/5 5 man like last year and at the end of the day just have their own finals match or what.

That would make sense. We are debating paying our entry until we see at least a few more teams register. Really don't wanna drive 4 hours to play against 2 other teams

I dont speculate on team participation. My experience has proven that this only causes confusion among the players. My only recommendation it to put your team on the list and then make a decision as it related to registration and late fees. (Late fees in place to get people to sign up early!!). Signing up early will prompt other teams to compete. If eveyone waits until the last minute then the participation will be low.
I decided to separate the divisions this year to level the playing field. Leveling the playing field is the whole reason that we use the APPA and ID cards. Now that the ranking have leveled out after all of the APPA changes over the past few year, I decided to make the needed changes to the league so that everyone has a fair shot at winning regardless of rank.
Its going to take teams a little time to realize that ALMOST everyone who played last year, at the 5man level, is now ranked D4 (of course there are exceptions). With that being said, Division 5 will be full of new 5man players who do not have to worry about getting destroyed at each event.
Offering a more basic prize package will also help to keep sandbaggers out of the D5. Doing so will allow a team to get the experience that they need to progress as a player. After all, the reason most people play in regional leagues, is to gain experience and move up to the national level. Winning a D5 event may not have all the glitz and glamor as a national event, but there is something to be said about showing up and winning regardless of your rank or what logo is on the ID card.

I think it's a good idea to separate the divisions. Let them learn and get experience. Then as they win events their appa points will move the winning teams up into the higher divisions and we will have experienced teams and good competition.

So what will happen if only 3 d5 teams register? How will this work. Will we mix in with d4 and be one division?
