Tippmann 98 Custom won't stop firing until tank is removed help?

Hello all,

My tippmann 98 custom will not stop firing when I shoot it. It doesn't shoot anything except the first shot, it just goes auto and I have to take the CO2 out (quickly) to end the madness. Does anyone know whats wrong with it? One of the O rings had broken which was the start of the problem, so I replaced it with a tippmann o ring but still the problem persists. Anyone have any ideas? I did silicone it with airsoft silicone but maybe not enough? Any insight on this problem is greatly appreciated.

You put silicone where?

A low CO2 tank will do the "burping". A worn sear or catch will also make it burp.

Its not the C02 as they were full, it must be a worn sear, where can you find the sear on the tippmann 98?

If you take your gun apart, it is what catches the bolt from going forward. The tip needs to be 90* as well as the catch on the bolt.

If it is the sear or the part of the rear bolt that catches the sear...you can simply file both of them back to a nice 90 degree edge and save the money.

Its also possible you gooped too much silicon and the hammer wont return properly. Also, if you replace the rubber stop with something too large it wont return. Don't use silicon on your gun. Just put a drop of oil around the pin of your CO2 tank before you screw it onto the gun (do this about once a month). Also, if your gun goes "full auto". you don't have to race to take off the CO2, just reach down like a man and stop the cocking knob with your hand. lol
