Hey, looking for SD tournament players
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How many guys from the upper mid west we got on here?? I'm talking South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, MN, Iowa????
And if we have any, how many of you guys have tournament experience???
Now, here's why I ask....
I'm from KY originally, moved around a lot due to my wife's work "healthcare", and I'm now in South Dakota "Sioux Falls area"...I started playing tournaments back when tournaments were cool, yes in the woods in the 90's...Once X-Ball took over I stepped out of the scene, just to dang old & out of shape to do that stuff, lol...I've been away from p-ball for a few years but now I'm back into it and I found out about the UWL series and I've got the tournament bug all over again....So, I'm wanting to build a 10man UWL team ASAP!!! So, now I'm scouring the frozen tundra for guys to build a new team....I'm not looking to play the whole series, no traveling to Cali "unless everyone wants to, lol" but I would like to play the Nebraska events, and maybe the Chicago events if possible if it works out where we could...So, I would need guys that were able to travel for events, guys that can afford to spend the money to pay entry fees & buy paint...
We could arrange a few practices here & there in kind of neutral places, probably not every weekend kind of stuff but maybe once or twice a month....I miss woods tournaments and just wanna get back into it since they were a blast to play.
If anyone is interested get intouch with me

Feel free to post this on the Ufford Hills facebook page, we have some tournament players who come out to the field and play. Also, we will be building upon are woodsball field to make it UWL friendly this year.

More the better, we try and push people to post on the page and invite others. Feel free to show other people the page, larger fan base we get in the off season more ears we can shout at when things get rolling again.

South Dakota players in general need to kick it in gear and make some noise. We look pathetic compared to the rest of the midwest.

People blame it on the weather or location but that's bullish--, MN, IA, NE all have crappy winters too but they have a lot of players...Problem with SD is the lack of fields and stores in the state, there are probably teen to early 20 year old males in this state who have NO idea what paintball even is.

The lack of fields is indeed a problem, and having no store to be a central location for players is disorganizing. Ufford Hills does have a proshop and it will be expanded next year. Although I cannot imagine tournaments this season at our field, I would like to start advertising them through our page and being a place where players can come and discuss what is going on. More topics being discussed on the nation for SD the better, no matter how small it is. Us just talking about this is helping the threads stay alive and active.

This should be easy enough to put a team together for. UWL 5 man at madcow near Omaha. And I definitely want to see the 10 man team happen.

Since I've been in the game since the early 90's and used to work for a huge paintball shop I'm seriously considering opening a store in the Sioux Falls area if I can find the right location.... I know where a nice store front is in Dell Rapids that's like 3mins from my house but I'd prefer Sioux because its a lot bigger town. We will see...

Taylor, you know the scene in this state better than I do, that's for sure....How do we contact these guys?? Where are they at??
For the 10man UWL team, in a perfect world the way to do it would be to organize a tryout/practice...Have 20+ guys show up and then chip away at it for a day or weekend to figure out where you stand...I've been around this game for almost 20 years now, played a lot of events, played on numerous teams and like to think I kinda know what it takes to make a competitive team for events like UWL. Let's face it, not everyone is a tournament guy, some don't have the mental make up or style of play for it..I'll stand by it until the day I die, if your a good tournament player you gotta have a little mean streak in you and a little bit of swagger. I came up in the days of the old Aftershock and teams like that, teams that would talk sh-- the whole game and would try their best to just flat out run over you...Not everyone plays that way or plays for that type of paintball experience. Tournament ball is NOT fun if your there to really compete. Don't get me wrong, you can have fun at an event but when the whistle blows you gotta hate everyone on the other side of the field and a lot of guys don't have that in them.
So that's why I say if you want to build a team it's nice to have the options of numerous guys to pick from...I understand that guys play for other teams BUT if their normal team doesn't want to play UWL it would be nice to pick a UWL team just for those few events that are half way close to us in this area and play them...Not ask guys to walk away from their original team, just be willing to run a practice here and there and play a couple UWL events.
What's your take on that if any of my old man rambling made sense, lol ????

I have finally received a break today from studying! I am going to spend some time today messaging the different players and groups I know in the area to build some interest. Having a try out is a nice idea, I truly hope enough players are interested in forming a team to make a tryout necessary. Once we start building more interest it will be up to you and the players you have assembled this far to pick some dates for tryouts and practices.
If a UWL team does form in SD, I forsee two groups or teams coming together to form a new one. Once the word gets out we will have a better idea of what the numbers will shake out to be.

Taylor I agree, the only way I can really see it working is to end up with a number of players from around the state. There's not a strong enough player base in different areas to build numerous teams in this state. And on top of that I know how some of the younger guys "no offense to anyone" don't care anything about woods ball and prefer to stay on the air ball fields, which is fine and I went through that phase in the past too. The end result I see is this, few guys from my area "Sioux Falls", few guys from down in your area, maybe a few scattered around the state in other spots and some out of state players from MN, NE or IA to round everything out.
