I dragged my Proton through mud and water and ended up having to spend a few minutes with a hair drier to fix it when I got home. That was really the only issue I had was getting water on the board through the small (yet still there) gap between the front grip and the frame.
But if it matters any, I'm buying another Proton to back up my Etek2 if I don't end up selling the Etek and buying a V-Com this year.
You may call it fat, I call it bounce padding.
