S10 - Going from 2.2 to 4.3, can I keep the original five speed?

I want to keep the truck stick, but I'd also like to not have to buy a transmission... will the stock five speed off the four cylinder work with the V6?

I still can. I've got motor mounts and headers for a 350, but if I do that I need to springs, brakes, rear end, drive shaft... the list goes on.

There's a TPI 305 Trans AM collecting dust at a buddies that would be pretty fun.

Why are you going through all the trouble of an engine swap to go from one slow, mildly efficient dinosaur of an engine to slow, inefficient dinosaur of an engine?

Seems like a lot of work for very little reward unless the 2.2 in there went kaboom and you just need to put something in it.

Little prelim reading makes me want to say "no", looks like the mounts are different.

My boy racer days are done, I don't want to blow the doors off anything, I just want to have something that can mostly get out of its own way, for the fewest dollars and man hours I can.

An aluminum LS would be the dream, but it's fairly unrealistic.

The trucks not dead yet, but 395k miles is a lot, and the compression is starting to drop more than I like. Swapping is almost less work than rebuilding... Almost. And I'll have a better truck because of it. I can't hardly put a box of tic tacs in the bed without feeling it.

bellhousing pattern is also different IIRC. 4.3 uses a new venture gear 3500.
