Dm- feels better in hands imo, smooth, quiet, a bit heavier
Clone vx- more efficient, smooth, quiet, boxy frame/hard grips, has nice oled board, very small profile
comes down to preference, you cant really go wrong with either. I feel that a nicely upgraded dm will be best value (going for cheap)

They all operate on orings and proper lube. Neither can go forever without attention and neither require excessive attention if maintained properly.

This, they are pretty much equal. No gun is really hard to maintain at all. If anything the dm bolt is less complicated than clone.

I agree with most of this post. The DM bolt does have less pieces, but factor in the LPR pieces and overall maintenance requirements are similar. To take it a step further the clone is more efficient (even than an eigenring'd DM/PM), the clone has an OLED, and is lighter/smaller. When you look at it as a complete package the clone offers a lot more IMO.

Maintenance is not an issue with me. You treat the gun good and it will be good to you. All it is is o-rings.
When you say lighter are we talking about a noticeable amount or just what the scale says?
And smaller. The clone is more compact. But the Dm is a normal size gun. The clone is just miniature. Right?

The Clone is pretty similar to a Geo. the DM is a bigger gun than most due to the frame and LPR under the bolt.

The weight is noticeable holding them side by side, but in game that'd never matter to me. The clone is a small single-tube gun. The body diameter is only marginally larger than a mini, but it is longer. It is really small.

Those are often misleading because sometimes 1 includes the barrel and/or ASA and the other doesn't.

That's true. But we aren't talking about 1-2 lb difference here. It's minimal

True, with a full setup, you will NOT feel the difference between almost ANY modern markers.
I like both (notice I have a VX'd v2 Clone, and a DM9 and a PM8). I think the DM's are nicer SOUNDING, and with a Critical trigger are more comfortable to shoot. However, the Clones do give MUCH more bang for the buck since I prefer the stock trigger to any stock Dye trigger ever, and they have the OLED with better efficiency going for them.

the clone isnt small or the size of a mini. its low profile, lightweight but is long, which is good because you can completely grip the front grip its super comfy.

Clone all day. Wins in every category IMO.
*Better Efficiency
*Sound Signature is about the same
*OLED board vs. cheapo low end board
*Sleeker looking gun
*I prefer the ergonomics and trigger of the clone to DM.

You're right it's not a ton. The main thing is that, as has been mentioned, the clone is longer so the balance is a lot different.

I'm not sure what to say about the sound other than a well maintained clone is one of the quietest guns I've ever seen (a boss/eigenbolted mini may win though). The DM9 is absolutely fantastic and if you like the UL frame then it has superb ergonomics. I'd be on the fence about this because I've owned probably 30+ DMs and only 1 clone and a droid.

When people say reliability is an issue with the DM's. --- they don't like cold or wet weather. What type of cold and wet are they talking about?
I live in BC Canada. It's a little cold here..

Only thing the DM's have over the Clones in my opinion is that they feel better in the hands. But overall, the Clone is the winner.

This is inherent of almost all improperly maintained spools. Set the LPR and dwell correctly and don't overlube and they'll do fine.

If your good to it, it will be good to you.
See I don't want to spend 1k on a gun. I don't play enough for that.
I would trade my vice. With lp poppet and freak barrel kit and add 300-400 for clone or Dm 12.
