So heres the story, I'm selling dre beats on craiglist and this person says she wants to pay for them through paypal and to send them to her "boyfriend" for valentinesday (she offered to pay shipping) because shes on a "business trip" and can't meet with me personally. Only prob is this guy lives in Nigeria haha so I'm 99.9% sure this is a scam but just wanted to ask this question about gifting through pp.

How do I tell if I get gifted money through paypal and there is no way for the person to get the money back if its sent by gift right?

IF they send it to you as a gift, it does not take any fee's out. If they send it regular: It will take the fees out.

it is a scam, they will send you a fake email saying that you need to ship the item before the money can clear, but thats not how paypal works. Do not do it

As long as you wait until after the money has cleared and make sure you get delivery confirmation, you're in the clear. Otherwise tell them to **** off.

I told the lady the only way I would do it is if she sent the money via gift through paypal and she agreed and asked for my paypal name. Should I do it or what? If she cant get the money back from gifting I dont see the problem?

the problem is they dont actually send the money, they send a fake paypal email that looks legit and tells you that you must send the item with tracking before the money will clear. They never send the money, tell them you will do it, then contact paypal when you get the fake email, trust me, i know from experience.

Protip: Wait for the money to clear from Paypal to your bank account, then ship. I do it when I have issues about a deal. If the buyer is legit, they shouldn't have a problem waiting a few extra days.

"Hmm, well I don't see it on Paypal yet, but I got the email, maybe it just hasn't updated yet." is a possibility. The email name they send you they mask it to look similar to Paypal I think.
