Hey everyone. I was doing some ab workouts the other day. I just started working out again (at the gym that is) and I worked out 3 days in a row. On the second day I did some sit ups. I pushed myself very hard, but not to the point that I reared anything.
That night u started feeling severe pain in my lower abdomen. Not the usual soreness. But it was different, like cramps/someone shoving a knife in my stomach.
Next night I tried some more sit-ups but I couldn't even do 3 because the severe sharp pains. So since I couldn't do my workouts I just my calorie limit on the treadmill to 500 and ran at a constant 10.5 km/h the whole time. (I have good endurance)
And that was 2 nights ago and my stomach pain is still here. It's gotten worse. It literally feels as though someone is putting a knife into my lower abdomen. I can't lay on my stomach, or do ANYTHING that uses my ab muscles or I experience, severe pain.
I'd see a doctor and make sure it isn't your appendix. Thought I tore my abs doing situps like you did, then waited a week to go to the ER, it felt like pretty regular muscle pain. I was there for less than 20 minutes before they pushed on my stomach and insisted on removing it. They said I was really lucky because it ruptured during the surgery. ~8 years ago my brother's friend had stomach pain, his doctor and parents didn't think much of it, it burst and he went septic and died within days...horrible and not something I'd mess around with.
edit: Especially if the pain is on your right side a few inches away from your belly button, but some people experience the pain in different areas.

Stop doing any physical activity, you use your core for literally everything you do. If you don't already have a hernia you will get one if you keep running and trying to do situps. If it persists I'd see a dr asap.
