I have a luxe 2.0 with the ft screw installed. I seem to break a fair amount of paint. I chrono it around 280 I tried over boring so I ran with a .693. I was using all fresh paint and it has happened quite a few times. Any ideas? Any info would be great. Thanks

this sounds like a paint problem not a chopping problem.

The temp is around 80 here and it's not the paint I have shot so many different kinds through it and seems to break. Plus my whole team always shoots the same paint and none of them were breaking paint. I'm the only one with a luxe. So I know that's not it something with the gun

Make sure the eyes are clean and the detents moving freely. If you were getting barrel breaks, try replacing the SFT oring.

I'm getting quite a bit of barrel breaks too while everyone else seems to be not getting so much/ any at all.Can I replace the green SFT oring with a black one?

Also I know cold weather doesn't help but I'm running a dwell of 16 to attempt to compensate for the cold weather. Any other suggestions?

try it with a different barrel...does the problem happen with one shot or when ramping...

Mostly while ramping. .693 insert. SS back and 16" AA tip(Not that that really matters much)

.693 Insert Holy Jesus, that could be it right there. What size was the paint? Not to mention how high youd have to crank your reg to get 290 FPS out of a .693.

it's not that absurd. Most barrels not too long ago were .693..... I doubt that's the issue.

What loader are you using? if you're using a rotor what does your tension settings look like?

Correct. Also correct me if I'm wrong but stock PE barrels are .693 and a friends geo had no problem(minus one barrel break, while I had a ton)

I am using a rotor. I'm not sure what my tension setting is nor how to change it(bought it used and left it at whatever it was before hand) This would cause a barrel break though? Also I've noticed if I drop one ball in the breach there is a good amount of back and forth play and the ball won't just sit in one spot. Not sure if this is normal on all luxes or due to worn detents?

Not to hijack this kids thread but I figured we both have pretty similar issues so any advice given would be universal and save us a thread.

Yup, you sir are correct, PE included a .693 barrel back with their egos up until the 10, and geos up until the geo2, then they started to include an .689 instead. Older DP fusions, and various other companies until recently included .693 stock bores with their markers.

A high loader tension can cause extra pressure on the balls in the stack before the bolt moves forward and this might squish the paint just a little further making the ball more susceptible to 2nd ball clipping.

Worn detents may also cause this as the ball may bobble in the breach, which also may cause second ball clipping. so check your detents as well!

your tension setting can be adjusted by turning a screw that is on the gearbox/battery tray/motor. That screw is the furthest screw to the right of the power button (the larger of the two)



screw can be turned in to raise the tension, or turned out to turn tension down, stock i believe is at flush or a little in from flush. If you have it turned down too much you may have trouble getting the rotor to feed consistently.

Thanks! I checked my rotor tension and it's sitting flush(where people on youtube recommend it to be)

My buddy just got brand new detents in his luxe and has only put a couple cases through them. I'm going to have to compare how a paintball sits in his breach and how one sits in mine. After checking the rotor tension off the list, I can't think of anything else it could be.

Edit: How often would you think luxe dentets should be replaced? And can the SFT oring be replaced with a black one instead of green(I assume they are different materials)

i have mine a little out from flush. The detents in the Luxe should last a long time without being replaced since they are the hard plastic and not the soft rubber kind.

First of sorry for my poor English hope you guys can see through it.

The green HBNR is possible to change with a black 17/70.

The reason you have barrel roleback is due to the std. bolt. If you want to remove that i suggest you buy a pooty flatfaced.

You can replace it with a Buna, but It will wear out pretty quick in that position. Im pretty sure thats why they used HBNR there.

this is why the guy asked you wear the paint is..if its in the breach or in the barrel...

if you are using a .693 on some of the smaller paint you will have to use more pressure to get 290+...

I recommend trying a different barrel cause I had a super small bur (small piece of metal) causing the ball damage..

You need a .679-.682. That's what I run with ALL my paint and it has cut down on breaks. Punkwork's testing showed that underboring leads to less breaks than overboring.

Not to step on your toes, but .679-.682 may work great in your area, but i've yet to need anything less than a .685...... some of Punkwork's testing is very "eh" for lack of better words...
A basic understanding of stress/strain will be able to let you know that underboring in fact leads to MORE breaks than overboring.

I've found these guys (ZDSPB) to be MUCH more credible than Punkworks. Here is their article on barrels (scroll down to bores and bore sizes) they too recognize that underboring may lead to more barrel breaks. Also take a look around their site, some cool stuff there.

I do agree with you however that a flush rotor tension screw is too much. I had break issues until i backed mine out a bit
