quick reg. / psi -fps question
OK I set my dwell at 9 @110paintball red bolt flow no spacer. Got to the field this afternoon and was shooting like 220, so I turned it up until hitting 285-295 ended up at around 145-150psi. It's not making sense because dwell of 6 @ 130 paintball is stock... so higher dwell at lower psi should attain similar fps should it not? Should I just rebuild the reg.?

Higher dwell allows you to lower pressure. On my nt10 i run dwell of 11 and pressure about 115-120. Mine is HIGHLY HIGHLY broken in.
I have a few other tricks i do to make it smoother and run at lower psi.

Right, but I upped dwell and had to up my pressure too... I dont get why. This gun only has 5 cases through it so maybe the reg. Isn't broke in enough, not sure but I have a green bolt flow coming That's replacing the red.

Dwell and pressure are part of it. Flow inserts, volume spacers and bore size affect velocity a lot as well. If you are using the red flow insert (the most restrictive) and have a fairly loose bore fit, you are going to need to crank the pressure up.

Figures.... I'm getting a green insert this week so I'll be changing it anyways. Thanks though makes sense why I had to crank the pressure even though I popped the dwell up to 9

Lol sorry going off the book... anyways OK I removed the seat retainer, the. Book shows a small yellow o ring on top of the regulator seat. My hyper 3 had no such o ring. So I put it back together as it was, hooked up my pressure tester unscrewed the retainer 3 full turns and now I'm getting no psi reading after flipping my air on. I can blow air through the fitting and the entire reg though but no reading on my tester..... I'm a little pissed.

I counted multiple times. Definitely 12 there and I went ahead and aired it up and it's leaking g between frame and the body....I'm about to go nuts.

The 007 o-ring is probably in there and you didn't see it. If it wasn't there you would have had a massive leak from the bleed hole.
Also, lots of regs have 12 shims, it should still work. And the shims may rattle after assembling the reg, it's normal.
Did you check the pressure after rebuilding the reg and before airing it up? Because if you didn't and had the reg adjusted too high, that could cause your frame leak.

I popped my reg. Tester on and it won't even register... like there is a blockage but I can blow strait through the swivel 90 and hear/feel air.... I turned the reg screw all the way in when I aired it up and slowly turned it out... leakage.... I'll put it back on and check again.

Well i think i figured the issue out... i wasnt bumping the intial pressure high enough to place the shim stack in the correct position to get a full reading on my tester.... i hooked everything up turned the screw out about 4.5 turns. Then aired it up.. no leaking anywhere at all... turned it down about 1.75 turns since i switched to the blue flow plug. put on my pressure tester it read right at 115 so i bumped to 120 with my dwell at 9, took it out and shot it no issue.... gotta be the single most screwy thing ive ever dealt with!

It was working, so you decided to fix it? The green insert should help you. I use the green insert with the yellow (cold weather) or green (warm weather) spacer to shoot 290fps or so.
One thing I learned with this marker is take notes. It is a race horse and you should treat it as such. Keep track of your settings/results and change one thing at a time until you get the hang of it. A great marker but not for a beginner. That's how it got such a bad rep, people didn't know what to do with it.
