This is a very social sport, I'd rather spend the money on an event where I know I'm going to hang out and have fun with folks than on another marker. If you can have both, awesome but I'm starting to get the vibe this is going to be a hella good weekend.
You ever get down and play at any of the Erie PA fields?

Yeah I'm going to start making some concrete plans for LL. I haven't played down there but it's only about hour an a half from me so it's not to bad a drive. Are there some good fields?

They're Ok. JAW is in Albion, off I-90 and has some decent Airball. Pentagon is the larger field with airball, scenario/woods fields and also off of I-90. My family lives outside of Erie so I bring my gear along on occasion and play. I'll drop you a line next time I'm playing up there.

The nice thing about the Erie fields is the general lack of hardcore asshats. Most of the players are pretty respectful and congenial. I'll drop you a line next time I'm heading up there.
LL VI is shaping up for a good time. I think we need to enter Matty into a drinking contest.

I used to call JAW my home field for the last couple of years I lived in Erie. I watched as John built from a tire and spool field up to a full netted xball field with AXBL and USPA teams coming in from all over the Northern states for a good weekend of paintball. Played many of tournaments at Pentagon back in the day as well. Definitely a place for newer players to congregate and learn the ways of the sport.

Might be able to snatch a P&P cold fusion, will take a little work to make it like my old one. I still have the scar on my knuckle from the milling, happened back in 2001-2002?

Paintball in Erie has come a long way in the last 10 years. I played at Pentagon for the first time in 2002 and Sean (or is it Shawn) and Nicole literally had nothing for infrastructure. My Intimidator was top of the line gear for that field. I went back in 2005 and hopped in with some of their teams for a weekday practice and was impressed with the quality they had...still nothing like what Pevs pulled on weekends or for their teams, but pretty damn good for Erie. By 2008ish Pevs and JAW had some really solid players.
I took my Dad, one of my friends who lives in the area and his stepson and we had a blast playing walk-on in 2011 at Christmas. More douchy kids than I would have liked but a great atmosphere. Pentagon, in particular, does a great job getting players out and into the sport. Especially in the Erie area where everyone knows someone that has a wooded piece of property where they can play outlaw ball. They get a good turnout and know their customers and facilitate their needs. Their reffing needed some work. But that's another story.

Paintball trips with Matty are a blast. World Cup 2007, the "woodsball" tournament at 'Be the Hunted' in 2006, trips to Warplay, the OA Big Game in 2007. There's always a funny story along the way, most of them not at his expense. Except the taser story, that one is 100% at his expense.

Neither field is bad to play at. They cater to different groups but I've enjoyed both locations. Pentagon is closer to my parents house (by about 10-15 miles) compared to JAW, so I've played there more, but I would go back to either place.
DVC - You work for Lord right?
