Where do I start?

Hello everyone,
So I somehow got interested in this 'paintball' thing. I've played maybe ten times through out my life, starting with a brass eagle, and working up to a spyder. This was a couple years ago however.
I was interested in getting a new setup, searched online stores, and remembered that forums are the cheapest! I came across a variety of packages for sale which allowed me to purchase an excessive amount of things, which now allowed me to have a pretty bomb a** setup. An axe, rotor, ninja, and some vforce's.
My problem now is, where do I start? I don't want to show up to some field with my setup, all alone, and people to think I'm a decent player. Meanwhile, I haven't shot a paintball in years.
I'm interested in playing every type of paintball there is; from woodsball to airball.
Just where do I start, I have no idea.

Just show up...who cares what others think. 90% of the people out there are kids whose mommies and daddies buy their gear for them anyways.

Exactly what Randcid said, but most of all most players/people there dont care what gear you have or treat you any different. Majority of the people that go are there to have fun! So go out and play!!!

The player makes the gear, the gear doesn't make the player!!! Go out and have fun, it doesn't matter what you are shooting!

The only way that you can do anything is by doing something. you have to start somewhere. in most cases you get a crowd of regulars at your field, eventually they will start noticing you are there often. Then bam! you got some new friends to play with. we all have to start somewhere.

You can start by hitting your local field and getting into some games. Don't worry about anything else. That's how you do it.

It's the player who makes the gear, not the other way around. Go out and play.

Go play with walk ons at your local field untill you get a little bit better and are a little more comforable with your set up. then look for players around your skill level or a bit higher and keep playing with them... if you get better than them allways find someone better than you and learn from them.

gear wise I would go with an eclipse etek or etha just for ease of maintenance and reliability-these are great starter to advanced markers. Get a good carbon tank that fits you (should be about as long as your forearm) and get a decent electronic hopper. valken, halo/empire, rotor to name a few and the spyder fasta and tippman loaders arent bad for the money honestly

I have to admit I am curious what the OP thought were even the alternatives to "show up and play".

Paintball is kind of like a rave in a sense (if you've ever been to one.)

No one cares about you, but in a good way.

As long as you're there to facilitate the fun by means of participating in the activity they are (playing paintball), they'll be wholly content with you and so forth.

Just don't try to cheat

So I headed out to Battle Creek in NJ after picking up a scuba tank.
It was just as I expected, exciting. I only had 500 paintballs, but played my part well.
I now can't wait to get in on some airball games.

Brother just go out and have fun, honestly no one is judging. I think everyone on this forum will say they don't judge anyone when they're out playing.
