axe kick

I've been searching and cant find that much info. I was looking into picking up an Axe. A Buddy of mine just bought a new one and I have to say I was disapointed in the amount of kick it had. Now this is a stock and brand new marker and I am keeping that in mind.

I have a few questions :

will a stock axe kick less as it breaks in ?

will the aftermarket bolts available and lighter spring make noticable difference in the kick?

Does it need and aftermarket bolt and spring kit to shoot fragile paint?

The Boss bolt greatly reduces kick. I recommend this aftermarket upgrade.

That is my Axe.

It is set up as follows:
Empire Axe, Infamous Bolt
- 140psi
- 1.5 turns out on back cap
- 4ms dwell (it is winter)
- medium spring
Chrono at 275 +/- 3fps

It has had about 4000 shots through it. Now, that video isn't shooting paint but it is pretty much kickless. MUCH smoother than stock which was very 'kicky'.

The Boss Bolt is the best option....i had put 5 cases through my axe before getting one and after getting it could tell after slapping it in immediately....

Shoot about 10 cases through it and adjust the pressure down to 175-180. Should shoot smooth as butter after that. I run my axes stock they are a lot more reliable.

haha what kick is this? ive recently decided to run my axe stock as it has been much more reliable in tournaments and there is no kick at all

Lurker bolt and using the tuning guide on this subforum and you'll have a smooth axe.

thanks, maybe I'm worried about nothing then, I didn't want to drop 5 on a marker that kicks more than an '05 marker I'm shooting now.

Yeah man, grab an axe and drop in either the Boss or the Lurker bolt and you'll be super happy.

why don't you buy used? I got my axe for $280 + $125 in upgrades. Its still cheaper than a stock brand new axe.

if you do decide on an axe, used ones in my opinion are better because they're usually already worn in.

if u tune it right it doesnt kick at all and shoots really smooth and is very quiete

How so? I'm a little confused about how a Boss bolt would make an Axe less reliable if properly tubed.

Its somewhat true they have to be tuned to perfection almost in order for them to be reliable kinda like a victory. Im still learning more about them and I like it way better then the stock bolt though.

Either of those statements are very accurate. Victorys are balanced poppits that only require for the LPR to be set around 75-80psi and the HPR to be set to field velocity, virtually no tuning involved. I also have never had to tinker with my Boss bolt except to turn down my velocity after it was broken in. I set the dwell to 3ms, pressure to 140psi, and sweetspotted by backcap, that was it. Boss already did the tuning for sure, that's why he gave us the settings for each spring.

With the victory theres much more u have to do its not even funny coming from a guy whos owned 7 of them trust me theres more then just setting the regs. Im just going by my experience with the boss bolt so far im not trying to argue with u. ill take advice for tuning them correctly anytime.

What am I missing about tuning Victorys? I've owned a few as well, including one right now. I know it cannot involve balencing regs since it's a balenced poppit, and there isn't many other things on the gun that can be adjusted. I'd really like to know how to make them shoot even better for future reference.

Boss bolts don't *need* to be finely tuned. I have yet to find exactly where the best spot for mine is, i simply threw it in, put dwell at 3.5 and my reg at about 150 and went from there, and I still get a hopper and 8-9 pods, depending on how good the fill station is. Seeing as that's about as much paint as i can physically carry, that's great for me.

My axe also doesn't "kick" at all when shooting, and really at this point unless you hold your marker like it's a micro-thin sheet of glass, none of them will
