I just started playing again as well. I used to run a minicocker and a mag. I just picked up a Empire Mini and I have to say its a really cool gun. I don't think you can go wrong with the Axe. I did the carbon fiber tank and am using my old 18V Viewloader which is a little outdated but still works. It gets about 10BPS. Going with a Dye Hopper will get you to the fire rate that the Axe can achieve.
As far as the difference between the Etek 4 and Axe... I haven't played both of them so i cant say for sure except that the Axe has all the hoses internal. They both are poppet valves but the axe is a modified low pressure poppet whereas the Etek 4 uses a hammer poppet valve. Which as I said I haven't experienced personally but I gather it increases recoil since it requires more mass to move back and forth. I plan on getting into an Etek at some point as well as get into the Dye guns too. One has to try them before making a judgment call as everyone's style is different. I still miss my cocker...

I would say etek but the axe is not bad either. Yes, the boss bolt is a great pick up for the axe.

Etek 4 and the Axe are really both great guns. It's really all based on opinion, personally ... I'd go with an Axe just because it's a lot more compact and for me, so much more comfortable, but then again, I've been shooting a Mini for ages, so the Axe (Basically a larger and much better version of the Mini xD) of it would obviously appeal to me more than an Etek. =P

Personally- Go axe. eteks are cheaply made. With the axe, if it already doesnt have, get the Shockwave board. Your going to want to get an XSV or Infamous bolt as well. They completley change the gun. Get a Ninja tank, they are the best IMO. Dye Rotors are great, Spires are better and Z2s fall in the same range. Cant go wrong with any of them. with the axe OR etek, your probably going to want to get a new barrel. JS

I would go with the Boss Infamous/XSV. Over the OG Boss V2....
