Psp Tips!

Hey PbNation!
My team has played local and statewide tournaments for over 2 years now, and have advanced to D4 for our tournaments.
We want to go to PSP chicago this year. Do you think its a good investment to play there? We have no APPA rank, but we haven't played in any APPA tournaments. Are we ready for a PSP or should we wait?

Also tips for playing in PSP tournaments will be greatly appreciated!

Go to a team practice near you where PSP teams play and see how you stack up. Only two things can prepare you for the PSP - PSP teams and PSP events.

PSP is all about making sure your skills are very well tuned. Everyone is shooting 12.5bps almost constantly so you need to be sure that you are snapping, diving, sliding, and communicating extremely well. If you can get people off the break and you guys come out strong then try to get snake control and win from there! In fact, try to get snake control ALL THE TIME!

How can you have advanced to D4, if you have never played any APPA tournaments?

Anyways, play in a few regional APPA tournaments before you jump into PSP Chicago, which is in late June, so that gives you plenty of times to get some regional tourneys in. Come PSP time, depending on your funds and who is committed, then you can decide whether it is worth playing in or not. Also, depends on what division you decide to play in as well. There is more than one D4 division for PSP. Advice for playing in these tournaments: If you're going to play Race-to-4, have a good pit crew. Secondly, just the main skill sets for speedball: communication, shooting with both hands, laning, sliding, running, etc. Just on a much higher level of competition. Good luck man, PSP is a lot of fun

Plays regionals like dude above me said. Yeah practicing psp teams can show where you measure up but there is a definite line between practice and tournament atmospheres, find a decent regional series and set goals that will be indicators that show you and your team are ready for the next level. Good indicators could be things such as maybe winning or placing in each regional event, or taking the series title.

Go to a big scrim shoot a lot of paint see where you measure up and the snake isn't always the best so don't listen to that guy make a plan based on the field layout.
