Personally, I like PDAnet. I'm pretty sure it has a mask so your service provider can't see that your using a feature they don't offer on iPhones, but that might be a different app.
A lot of people like TetherMe(?) for some reason that popped into my head, but there's really only one other option for quality tethering. I couldn't get it to work when I tried, which is why I went with PDAnet. It's worked 100% for me |

Can anyone else with an iPhone 5 try PDAnet? It's telling me I have to reboot, but that doesn't make it work. Won't start broadcasting.

Yeah mine isn't working either. My bad
I was searching google and it looks like we just missed one of the "secret" tethering apps. Occasionally a developer will create an app that looks and says its for something, but hidden in the app is a tethering option. Apple will approve it and make it available in the AppStore until they find out about it. Whoever gets it before they take it off has a tethering app that doesn't require a JB. The last one got taken down the first week of January. |

just jailbroke my phone/ipadmini
backgrounder wont download for me... I'm assuming because it was originally made for a previous ios
edit: if anyone knows of an app similar to backgrounder let me know

Mine took a while. The jailbreak was fast... but some of the reboots took a while. I was watching TV... so I didn't care too much. Then when I saw the lockscreen, I was happy to see the cydia icon.  |

I got a message saying purchases are disabled for now due to the servers being too busy. I'm still trying to decide what tweaks are a good places to start. |
