wait to get high end gun or stick with rail
So ive played paintball probably about 10 times. I'm getting into speedball, and I recently ordered a 2013 proto rail. However a lot of people have told me lately (my friens who has an ego a geo a csl a luxe a demon a g6r) that I shouldnt waste my money on entry level and go straight to an ego or a geo or a dm. I havent opened the rail yet, so im wondering if i should just save my money and get a better gun. It would only be a couple weeks before i could get it, or is the rail actually pretty good? I know people look down on new players with good gunsbut frankly **** them, its my money, thats just kind of a pain in the ***. Whats your guys input.

Run your Rail for a while, see if you like it. You probably will. At a certain point, today's guns are more about personal feel rather than performance. Will it be as efficient as a G6R? Nope, but that's a function of the design, being a spool valve gun. Will it lose a bunch of its value/resale value? Of course, but so do those Egos/Geos/Luxes/etc. The difference is that losing 50% of a gun's value by aging a year means your Rail will lose less dollars than the other guns.
Don't worry about the opinion of someone carting around $5000 worth of guns unless they're willing to pay for what you're shooting.

The rail is going to work great for what you are doing. The rail will work great for higher level speedball as well.

Rail is a fine marker. let people talk smack. Fine a trigger that you like, and a barrel kit and shoot some faces.

if you pull the trigger and 1 (or many) paintballs fly out of the barrel, then it works fine. play with it until it actually limits your ability to play.
90% of your play coming from you, not the marker in your hand.

Sounds like your buddy is just looking down on your choice because he has better markers...... Tell him F' it, he's got so many and only one person, you wont use the rail and just use one of his. Thats what a good friend would do anyway, since he does have a variety. Let you see what you like.

i would highly recommend a barrel kit over a high priced single barrel. different paint comes in different sizes, its better to be prepared.
The rail is a great marker to get your feet wet with. Start reading the manual for your marker and figure out how it works.

In addition to what everyone else here said, don't get a dye cfboomstick. They are heavier ULs that look cool. The stock barrel on the Relfex is just fine- proto and dye barrels are kinda the same other than pricetag and asthetics.
