Should I buy a used CCM or a new Phantom?

What should I do guys? I know they are both great makers but I am not sure. I have around $400 to spend on it. Thanks for any suggestions!

Well, what do your prefer stock class or open class? That should help with 90% of your decision.

If you have tried both, I'd go with whatever's comfortable. They're both good guns in different respects (price, pump stroke, etc..).

If you're asking as someone who is buying blind, I'd have to say CCM, as I like the feel/quality of their guns, even at a higher price point.

I have tried a CCM for a few games that a guy at my park let me use and it was fantastic! I have not tried the Phantom but I ave heard good things about it. I am leaning towards the CCM.

I'd be using the open class Phantom.

The question you should ask yourself is "should I play stock class or open class?"

And yes, you can convert the phantom into either, but most would rather have it in stock class/modified stock class.

Edit: well, I took too long to answer....

If you want to play stock class go with a Phantom since you can make the switch to open class easily. If this is your first pump gun/first trying pump I suggest the Phantom once again because of the price. You may not like the feeling of the game because it is very different from semi's/electro's. I would personally go for the CCM because almost every newish model is pretty good on the field.

Forget the phantom. Go with the ccm all the way.there is no comparison. Imo i hate phantoms. Small tube guns that just feel cheap. For 400 you can find a nice s6 and if the stroke is off, send it back to ccm and Rod will retune the marker for you. Great guns. Great people. Cant go wrong with the ccm

Def ccm! If you want to mess around with stock class, look into cram n jams, for a little more challenge or you can always mid the gun for a stock class feed tube, most will say no don't do it but if take time( I've done before) it's one hole, drilled and tapped in top rail.

I would try to get your hands on a phantom to try before you settle on that CCM. I personally love CCM markers and I think most people tend to prefer them, but those that like their Phantoms absolutely love them. If your field has a decent number of pump players, it shouldn't take more than a weekend or two to find a Phantom to try and you might find that you prefer the lightweight, pistol-like body over the CCM's more traditional shape.

2nd that. Try them both. My first pump was a phantom and I loved the feel of it, you can run and dive into the snake like your carrying nothing. I used to play airball against semis with it and never even wanted a ccm lol. 9 years later I've owned 2 phantoms and 9 ccm made guns(I absolutely love ccm).....I personally choose ccm over all pump manufacturers but would hate for you to buy a ccm and then try a phantom or BL mvp and like the way that feels more. They are both great guns....it always comes down to personal preference. Go to the field, bring a pod of paint. find someone with the gun you like and kindly explain the situation and ask if you could please pop off a few shot. Most pump guys love when other people are getting into pump so more then likely, they'll help you out

ccm. that should get you going in pump for a while. later you can try a phantom and it's pretty cheap to add one to the stable. or you can always go msc with your ccm.

edit: bah this thread is outdated

I personally don't like how phantoms in open class feel. I love them in SC variation though.

CCM for open class, phantom for SC is my vote.
