Drone DX vs Geo 3
I have heard many people say that the Drone DX is just as good (if not, better) than a Geo 3. I'm interested in hearing what you all have to say.

They're both blowforward spools with similar internals. Most people that make the claim are bringing cost into account where the drone is ~$600 less than the Geo. Add an OLED (from the clone) and it's still ~$450 cheaper.

I have heard many folks say this and I tend to think its true. I have shot both guns and they have very similar performance. It is amazing to me that the Drone performs the same as a gun that costs more than twice its price tag.

I dont have anything against macdev, But the clones (V1-Gt) and the drone are uncomfortable to hold IMO, not a problem for most people, but I would take a geo 3 over a dx any day. I also think the geo 3's have some nice features like the sfr, that the drone doesnt and cant be upgraded to have. I do think the Dx is an amazing marker, one of the best out there for the money, but I think the geo3 is a fair amount better, but how much better I dont know, $500? $5? $1,000,000? $1? it is all preference.
But if you do go down far enough, they are roughtly based off of the same basic design, but there are some differences. You could also say that about a tippman 98C and a luxe though, they both use HPA to fire 68 cal paintballs, fire from an open bolt position, at about 300 fps, trigger, ect. I could go on forever about the similarities of any 2 pb markers.

Comfort is all preference. The Geo does have some nice features like the board. In my experience the SFR doesnt really make all that much difference in the shot quality. And everyone that I know who owns a Geo3 has the SFR dialed all the way down. While the SFR concept is nice it just doesnt really change things a whole lot. Not to mention PE had almost 3 years to develop the Geo3 and the best they could come up with is a Geo2.1 with an SFR. The interesting thing about the Drone DX is that it has the exact same shot quality as a Geo3 with the SFR dialed all the way down.
The Geo3 has more in common with a DP G3, 4, 5 and Ion than it does with other high-end spoolies. PE basically took low to mid-level technology and put it in a high-end gun with a premium price with marginally better performance.
While all paintball guns do the same thing (shoot paintballs using air/CO2) the various platforms (poppet, spool, dump valve, blow forward, blow back, etc) do it very differently. But to try and directly relate two unrelatable platforms is a stretch at best.

They perform about the same, but the Geo3 feels much better in my hands in my opinion.

That is what's interesting... Is the ~$500 enough to compensate for the feel of the gun in your hands? For me, I think I'd keep my extra $500.

I've never shot either but at one time I was very close to buying a Drone DX. Its sounds like its a great marker. I'm curious, how would you rate the trigger of the Drone DX as compared to the newest Geo?

I love violent series triggers... for $35 I put them on nearly every gun I buy. Stock triggers always kind of suck IMO, but PE makes decent stock triggers.

The one thing that MacDev doesnt do very well is stock triggers. Granted, they have come a long way since the days of the 04 Cyborg but there is room for improvement. But there are really great options out there for Drone DX triggers like Violent, Critical, and others that I cant think of right now.
