you don't necessarily need a barrel kit.

What city/state/province do you live in?

Areas tend to have similarly sized paint in it most of the time.

Like in my area, paint ranges from .677 to .686.
In the summer, it's at the upper half of the range.
In the winter, it's at the lower half.

Therefor, I only need about 2-3 different bores to cover the range (having paint that's within .006 of the bore size of your barrel is fine. any more and you risk paint breakage and/or crappy consistency/range.)

pick up a .689 version of this barrel. It is, IMO, the best barrel on the market. I've owned pretty much every barrel kit to hit the market in the past decade and Furious really surprised me. $70 gets you a nice barrel that will match most of your rec ball paint and increase your efficiency. You will be able to turn the pressure down in your gun and the paint will still shoot through consistently due to the high polish inside the barrel bore. It also is self cleaning, so you can shoot through a break in the barrel (again, due to the super high polishing).
Tried anything by:

MacDev, Thin Air Sports, Powerlyte, Lucky, Lurker, Disruptive, LAPCO?

I beg to differ.

$70 for 1 barrel is a bit much. at that price you might as well just buy a kit. i think a deadly winds fibur is only $20 more and comes with 1 insert, and then you could just buy 1-2 inserts later if you felt you needed them.

.

Especially now with the Fibur X.

you can get a .682 and .686 SS freak insert, a cocker and impulse threaded back and you automatically have a kit that can work on about 75-80% of all guns on the market and with 90% of all paint you shoot for only $120ish.

Again, other routes are available and freak inserts make for a pretty short control bore

Yes, I have. However my personal opinion does not change from what I previously posted.

I don't see the advantages of a carbon fiber barrel over a furious. Same concept of being able to "shoot through" breaks and zero chance of the coating wearing off causing burs in the CF. Lucky's are one piece, unless you are refering to the unitech style like vanguard uses. And the shift kit is rather annoying if you lose the neat little wrench that it comes with.

We are all entitled to personal preference and I was simply sharing mine with his.

Additional barrel backs for the furious lotus system are $40. So, for a .682, .686, and .689, he could spend $150 compared to 120. Again, IMO, it's well worth the extra $30

I never factor in efficiency, unless it's just a "plus" onto whatever else I'm looking into.
From what I can tell, accuracy is not affected much when it comes to barrels and paintball. You aren't shooting lead rounds through a rifled tube (barrel). You're shooting a ball through a smooth bore barrel. Keep it clean, and you'll shoot straight.

With that said, I'd either go with a Freak (my second favorite barrel, after the UL) or stick with a universal bore, on any barrel that you like. Ex: .688 on a UL works with any paint.

First of all......your etek is a fine gun. It'll keep up to anything on the field, don't worry about the gun.

Next.....is there a problem with your accuracy now? If not then don't worry.

If the paint is really small for your barrel and you find you aren't quite shooting as nice as other people then I suggest you borrow someone's tighter barrel or kit and try it out on your gun. If you notice a difference then go for it. If not then don't bother.

In the end you're probably better off just buying nicer paint with a thicker heavier fill. That will usually do more than anything else.

If some day you find yourself travelling and playing at a lot of different locations with a lot of different paint then a kit is probably a good idea. For weekend warrior play......it's not really needed.

Are you having issues running out of air on the field? If not don't change anything.

If you are having issues with running out of air, does your local field fill tanks to 4.5k? If so buying a bigger tank (I suggest 68ci) rated at 4.5k will help.

If you want to buy a barrel kit just because... well then go for it.

Freak kit is great. Macdev Shift kit is awesome. Deadly Winds w/ freak inserts is great. Or you could get a shaft4 backs for your existing barrel.

And FYI .689 is a pretty good universal size.

Barrel kits are great. I have a 14" Freak Kit and I love it. I'd recommend getting a better tank before you invest in a barrel kit though.

I personally have to run field paint. So I can either get the reg stuff for 40 or the premium for 65. I was going to get a barrel because a stock 09 barrel is a .693 and the paint currently just slides through it. Figure I needed a better fit. I really am in no rush to get something as I do shoot just fine as it is but hell why not get something if it helps right?

as far as i know, the old stiffi's were the ones you had to worry about the inner coating coming off and has since been remedied with all other CF barrels.

I would not have bothered with a barrel kit, but I was getting a lot of rollouts with my "larger" stock barrels. A used Freak kit made me a believer. The last case of good paint I bought fit a .684 insert pretty well.

Roll outs could also be caused by bad detents.

For sure, unless you're using a closed bolt gun like an autococker, roll outs are a detent issue. Not a barrel bore issue.

Of course it's an Autococker! Is there another kind of paintball gun?

Thanks for all the advice everyone and also thank you for being so welcoming to the forums!! It's much appreciated! Today I tried out some rps premium and it was much better then the paint I was using before so I will defiantly be spending the extra $10-$15 for better paint in the future. Is there anything else that I could do to better my accuracy in the future besides practice? I always keep my gun in spotless condition before and after a days play which I heard was one of the best things you can do for accuracy.

Drills drills drills. And work on muscle memory, I always take a few pock shots at a pole or something before a game starts to get the hand eye coordination going. Just practice bringing your gun up and taking a few shots. Accuracy will come with time and getting used to your marker.

If you do choose to purchase a barrel kit soon, I'd look into a critical 100g kit. It comes with 4 backs(.680 .684 .688 .692) and a 14 inch front. If you don't want those sizes they sell the backs by themselves and fronts(14"&16") by themselves so you can choose what you want.

The inside of these barrels are perfectly honed, it's the best job of any barrels I've ever owned, the porting on them is big and plentiful so it quiets your marker, and it's so light! Idk how much 100g = in oz but it truly feels as light or lighter than a carbon fiber barrel while having the sturdiness of an aluminum barrel.

This is my favorite kit and if you use this with premium paint you will have a great time. It's an option I'd suggest looking into.

This^ the player by far and large makes the biggest difference in accuracy
