Question Please Help

So my buddy has handed me his macdev clone and it’s (for lack of a better phrase) blowing throw air. He has 68/45 tank and filled to 3500 PSI (field limit) it will only last 4 maybe 5 hoppers. Also the gun has lots of ball drop, we are talking more then my ego. There are no leaking sounds when the tank is on the gun. I’m thinking it is just pushing to much air on every shot and giving the ball lots of top spin. I know very little about the clones so I come to you PBNation mask in hand, I need your help boys and girls.

The original post is so full of incorrect and anecdotal nonsense that I'd encourage you to send the gun to a real tech.

If you feel confident enough, reset board to factory settings and rebuild the marker completely.
This should help. Refur to manual for oring chart.

It's most likely an oring that needs to be replaced.

Use a chrono to set the velocity and stop the shot drop. I assure you that top spin isn't the issue. Dwell is the "blowthrough" adjustment on the board and the valve is the mechanical dwell (so change the 17x1 orings and maybe the 15x1). Apply a thin coat of lube. Guns don't change a paintball's trajectory.

You could possibly design a bolt that puts spin on a ball but it would be nearly impossible to make it stay in a certain direction. Anyways make sure the board is reset and that all the valve and valve keg orings as well as the powertube orings are replaced and fit properly. The valve orings should be very snug. as should the power tube orings when replacing the outer valve keg orings, try putting just the valve keg in the body with the new outer orings to make sure they fit in there pretty snug as well. If everything is sealing properly it doesn't matter how high your dwell is it won't hurt efficiency as the Droid/Clone platform fires off a metered amount of air... and the valve is that physical meter. You could go as far to say as it is a volume regulator and it only recharges when the bolt is returned.

A bolt won't spin a paintball. Alien makes those claims with their "sweep bolt" and it has been discredited multiple times.

You could possibly get it to spin with a poppet bolt that has but a small cutout on the Byron top or side so wit would only have a small crescent cut out... But it would be difficult to get consistent enough paint that fits a barrel just enough to spin and even then paintballs just aren't perfect enough. I think it would be easier to achieve with perfectly round paintballs... Even then it would be tough. I don't like to say X can't do X generally because under certain circumstances it can.

You're arguing a point that has been completely discredited multiple times. Since the fill is a liquid spinning the shell has little overall impact on the flight characteristics of the ball. Tom Kaye discredited this notion years ago when smart parts was selling rifled barrels and punkworks did it again with alien's sweep bolt claims. Equal velocity means equal range. No gun shoots further, flatter or straighter than another.
