I have been out of paintball for a little over a year and I feel out of the loop. I was originally looking at the Dangerous Power G5 but after reading some bad things about the G4 and with the G5 being so new I was a bit skeptical on pulling the trigger.

I originally had an Etek 2 before I stopped playing so I already know the gun and the feel as well as how to work on it. That led me to the Etek 4. I really like the look of the gun but they don't have the same blue that I fell in love with on the G5.

My friend now plays on a paintball team and to be on the team they are requiring either the MacDev Drone DX or Clone GT. I might be able to get the Clone GT for $800 but I don't know if that is 100% or not. If I can get the Clone GT for $800 then that is defniitely what I will be going with.

Right now I am torn between three markers:

Dangerous Power G5
Planet Eclipse Etek 4
MacDev Drone DX

Please let me know what is a good price for the package. All replies are welcome and if you even have other suggestions please feel free to throw them into the mix.

If you can't get the Clone GT, than definitely the MacDex Drone. Smoothest shooting marker out of the bunch, plus you said to be on your friend's team you have to shoot MacDev, so that's the easy choice. You can get some of the colors for the gun for around $425 used, but in general most are $600 brand new. You'd save some money if you bought used on here

Out of these new, I would go with the Drone DX. If you were willing to grab a used marker and you are familiar with the etek, then you can gran an ego10 for around 500, get a used rotor for around 100-120, and a good air tank ( i suggest Ninja) for about 100-120. 750 for an entire package.

Playing for the team is fine and dandy but I don't know if that is really something I want to do at this time. I really want to enjoy the sport and not have it become a job. There are a number of squads and the first squad only requires a specific helmet to be used. I am fine with staying on the low squad if I am allowed t use a good gun. Although, it appears that you all sugges the Drone DX anyways so I think I will end up going with that. I really wish it came in a blue and black coloration for the $429 price tag new.

Need to find out if my friend can get me the discount on the Clone GT before I buy anything though.

The G5 is at a lower price point than the other two.

But I chose other, and suggest the Proto Reflex Rail. The 2012 one can be found for less than $500 and is a great marker. I recently switched to it and love the thing. Smooth, quiet, great ergonomics, and just looks awesome. It's basically a DM but without the LPR and says Proto instead of Dye.

heck for the price range of 600 theres way better guns out there...u can get a really nice up bob long victory for 5ish.....or a g6r....ego 9 or 10 or a clone vx

If you are looking for a new marker, the Drone DX at $429 now is very hard to beat. I had a Tac Drone DX and it shot very well.
If you are open to used, there is a very broad market out there. G6rs, Egos, Geos, or older MacDevs.
For the money, it is very hard to beat a Supercharged V1 Victory. They are very smooth inline poppets, and just work amazingly well.

Buy a used Clone before you buy a brand new Drone. Can be had for the same price and the Clone is a much more refined marker.

Dont buy any of those ... for 600 you can easily find a v2 or vx clone used and still be able to shoot it under a macdev sponsored team...

For $600 I'd get a Bob Long Vice for $350-$400 and do something fun with the leftovers.
Clones can be had for $450-ish these days and they offer a decent bang for the back despite their ergonomics and trigger being poor.

That being said, neither of the options listed or suggested will do something a $200 DM6 can't do...
