I didn't even know they could bore flatline barrels, but I know people at my field love the super freaks (bored freak barrel with apex tip) so I would go with the apex

There's few options for bore matching with the Apex, and really none with the Flatline. With an Apex tip, you can get either the new Empire Super Freak (which comes with an Apex tip), or a Freak barrel and an Apex ready front for the tip.
Generally, the only need for something like that would be if you planned on adjusting the ramp on the Apex during the game. As an example, I have a Freak with Apex front and tip. During big games, I'll have a couple notches of ramp dialed into the Apex to give me the range I want in more open areas. If I'm about to go into a built up area, I might take all the ramp notches off, because range wouldn't be a factor.
Make any sense?

APEx is a brand in itself, and yes it could be beneficial to you if you know how to use it

It helps for range. Figure you'll just about double your range on a good day. You lose a little accuracy because of the effect on the ball, but if you need the range, it's worthwhile. Remember, though, by the time the ball gets out that far, it's moving pretty slow, so you'll bounce hits a lot.
