Freak Inserts...

First off, I know there's a barrel/paint section, but I figured it'd be better to post here because I'm talking underboring, which is a mainly pump thing. Well I'm thinking about grabbing a deadlywinds fibur and throwing a freak kit in there. Well, I've run into a few questions if you guys wouldn't mind helping. First off, is there really that much of a performance/reliability increase in the stainless steel ones? And finally, what do you guys find necessary when it comes to inserts? I was thinking .677 .682 and .687. You guys think that's a good group to have? Thanks everyone!

The aluminium are fine, stainless is less temperature sensitive so it will hold a truer size throughout a day of play. Brass is better yet again. I have no complaints about my stainless kit.

I mainly use a .679, .682, and the .684. I've never needed to bring any other inserts than those, but I've thought of picking up a .677 and a .675.

Don't know if this is true or not, but I heard SS takes a better hone/polish. The only REAL reason I ended up with a stainless kit was it was the same price as an aluminum kit on Craigslist and closer to my house.

I usually use .684 as well.

I have both, and found alum to be better when I get a barrel break. The barrel cleans out faster with the alum somehow. The anodize surface is a lot more slick over the SS ones.

Also the alum inserts are lighter and cheaper. I have scratched the SS ones, more than the alum. I think also anodize surface is harder and than SS. Correct me is I am wrong. The SS inserts are not hard SS types of stainless

deadly wind + freak inserts the way to go.. Primary used paint would be ultras, If you AT much then use .684 if not then slip the .682 in. Another personal tip, don't under bore IMO its inaccurate.
