So I am getting a strange noise from my right rear between about 15-25 mph, sorta a low grinding noise. I would think bearing if it was higher pitched, but could a bearing make a low pitched noise? Might try and get a recording of the sound. Sorta sounds like plastic or some such catching on a rotating part, but the wheel well looked fine.

Jack up that corner, spin the wheel fairly quickly and just grab the coil spring. If it's the bearing you will feel it. If not, check the tire for cupping

Dead thread is dead?
Anyway, I finally got my car back yesterday... at 5pm ****ers. Then my dad and I proceeded to be under my car from 6:30-11:30 putting my new downpipe on. Wouldn't have been as bad if we had air tools and 2 more jack stands or a lift, haha.

Starting to think it might be the wheel bearing. I will get a chance to do the spin test tomorrow. It'll suck having to replace another bearing/hub combo, left side one was a pain in the ***.

I'd consider it actually, cause I can do the hub/bearing but it the left side was a pain. Still need to get water pump and timing done, would like to get that done before driving to Canada and back in the middle of August. And I need to get inspection done, and I'll be busy moving this weekend. FUUUUU.

funny you should say that, i'm pretty positive that NC inspection counts for the rest of the states too.
anyways it's on the table, i've got two extra rooms i can put people up in if they ever feel the need to drive all the way here.

I think advanced auto may have them/be able to order them. Any paint and autobody supply store should have them as well.

So I've been playing around with the idea of getting an exhaust for my jetta, and anyone I've talked to usually recommends a 2.5" over a 3" because 3 is unnecessary with the stock turbo and you lose some low end power. I'm mainly just looking for the sound above all else, but all I can seem to find in the used market (new is too pricey) are 3" DP or full TBE systems, with 2.5" systems nowhere to be found. So my question is if a got a 3" TBE would the difference between that and a 2.5 really be that great?

What Model/Engine?
I know that among some circles in Mk5's they say that too. But honestly, that school of thought is only really in effect if you are still on a stock ECU tune. Any reputable company that requires a DP for their Stage 2 flash will take the added breathing room into account and calculate more/faster spool, which helps to negate most/any lost low end power/torque.
I could definitely tell the difference on my GTI when the OEM DP was put on the other day at the dealer (Looooong story). I had to run it on the stock flash, my car felt slower overall, but coming from a dead stop there wasn't any throttle lag. However, when I'd drive my car with 3" DP on stock flash, It'd be slow as balls coming right from a stop, until the turbo spooled and it got it's **** together. But all-in-all, when I have my 3" DP and my APR Stage 2 tune on, there's virtually no turbo lag or loss in low end, even running at 22 psi peak.
