We are opening the two wild card slots for event #1 to any PUMP Teams that wants to compete with so-cal's Finest teams!
Quote:
One aspect of the League we'd like to change is making the BRPL more like an actual LEAGUE of participating teams! We call ourselves a league, but each event is more of an open roll call for players and teams. We understand that it is difficult to coordinate players from all different walks of life for ONE event let alone 3. However, in the spirit of making this more consistent and more like an actual LEAGUE, we would like to have teams commit to the entire season for next year (3 events).
2 years of team list data show a trend. The same 6-8 teams ALWAY participate with 2-4 "throw together" or "fringe" teams throwing their names in for any particular event. We would like to reward and incentivize COMMITTED teams in 2013 by offering successive reduced pricing for playing in consecutive events. For example: Event 1 will be $300 per team. Then there will be a $50 discount to any team who played the previous event. So Event 2 will be $250 and Event 3 will be $200. This fee schedule will RESET with each calendar year. So, if you SKIP one event, that's ok. The payment schedule will just go back to the $300 default price and be discounted accordingly with each successive event played. Obviously it's cheaper to commit to playing 3 events and play all three events.
In the 2013, that comes out to a total of $750 for each Premiere team who plays all 3 events ($250 per event).
BRPL also does not want to shut out new and upcoming teams. So, each event will feature 2-4 "Wild Card Teams" which will be an open roll call for anyone who wants to play. Once a certain dates passes, if those Wild Card spots have not been filled, we will give Premiere teams an opportunity to put in sister-teams if they want.
Some of you might be thinking this is a bit "exclusionary" and will not promote the GROWTH of a fledgling tournament pump community in Socal. We have been thinking long and hard about that as well and after trying a Rookie Division program, we have decided to tackle the issue in a "top-down" method. Instead of DIRECTLY appealing to younger and less experienced players with a separate division of their own, we want to take 2013 to DEVELOP the branding and image of our Premiere teams. We want the new guys to get to know YOU guys better. By offering constant updates on our BRPL Facebook page on Premiere teams and players, offering high quality photos and videos (courteousy of Almost Famous) of YOU and your players, we want to increase the VISIBILITY of Socal's top pump talent in an organized way. This will then promote pump in general and hopefully give new players and teams the drive and incentive to work hard, practice, organize and get to where YOU are now! All of our friends here in the Socal pump community have been working hard for many years to achieve the level of organization we have today. BRPL would like to take that a step further and REWARD you for it.
Another way we'd like to continue our support of the "new guy" to our sport is to invite new players to BRPL events and team practices to meet YOU and your players. We will coordinate league practices/scrimmages to help prepare you for the main events but also get you guys out there to meet and greet new players. That way they can play/practice along side you guys without having to commit to playing AGAINST you guys in a tournament setting. When these teams are ready to compete (which might not happen immediately) they will have an avenue to do so with BRPL.
The overall BRPL format will not change much in terms of field layouts or game play. All of you Premiere teams have played our Raceto7/10 min format. This will ensure you get PLENTY of points during the day. The field layouts will NOT be offered until 3 days before events. They will also be 75% sized fields like in BRPL E2 2012. That seems to offer the best combination of FAST PACED points and quality reffing.
Obviously, we'd like to extend this initial invitation to ALL of you (as I count it, there are 11 solid teams currently). But we will only open 8 spots for the entire 2013 season. Event 1 will offer 2 Wild Card Team spots. The 8 spots will come first come first serve. We ask you to talk with your players, go over the dates and have a solid commitment from them before going forward. Again, there is that incentive in pricing for making that commitment. No other teams will be allowed to join and play. They will have to wait for the open call for Wild Card spots (only 2). Those Wild Card spots will also be first come first serve with whoever pays plays.
Once our 8 teams are set, we will start our promotion for 2013 by including those team into our marketing. If you CANNOT make that commitment initially, that is fine. There will be that opportunity for you to play in any of the 3 events during the year as a Wild Card Team. If, during the season, something happens and you cannot make an event with at least one team, we will have opportunities for you to fill bodies with a pool of "free agents" from among the Premiere teams. These we will promote as "Guesting" spots and as long as it stays within the League players, it will be permitted.
If in extreme circumstances a Priemere team CANNOT fulfill their commitment in 2 successive events, they will lose their Premiere spot and another team will have the opportunity to take their spot in the rotation.
Tentative Dates for 2013:
Event 1: March 10 @ SCVillage
Event 2: May 19 @ CPP
Event 3: Sept 22 @ SCVillage
These are tentative because we don't know NPPL, PSP dates at this time. But these have been penciled in at the moment and gives you an estimate of how to prepare for BRPL in 2013.
I know this was a long email. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Captains, please let me know if you are accepting this offer to be on the 8 team spot. We will update the Facebook BRPL page as the teams fill up. Facebook will be our MAIN mode of information dissemination rather than PBN so please LIKE our Facebook page and get the most updated information as it comes out. Once the list is full, that will be locked in for the entire season.

I agree, this is an amazing tourney series with all the main southern California competitive pump teams....aside from blitz who run the series, and do a great job of that.
To the Blitz crew...the Blowfish cannot wait for this first event much less an entire season of what will surely be incredible paintball. We really appreciate the opportunity to take part in something this well orchestrated and hope that we can do our part in making this series a permanent and growing fixture in the pump community. Thanks for the tons of work already put into this and a thanks in advance for the good work that is sure to come. This is going to be a blast!!
