I think they should do World Cup seeding by points over the entire season so one bad event does not kill it for you.

So if you are say like the #1-4 team all year in the champion division and you place 10th for some reason the 4th event, you are knocked down to the challenger division for WC?

Yeah, my bad. Sorry. I was thinking more that semi-pro didn't live past that year. And no teams were relegated.

And yes, that's exactly what they are saying. You can WIN the season title but not play World Cup in the Pro division because yo were relegated.

Just a little devil's advocate.

What happens if say Heat wins the 1st 3 events then has one random bad event and comes in 9th of 10, then they wouldn't play Cup in the Pro division?

EDIT: I guess someone just asked....

I just talked to Lane on the phone and that could exactly happen. Only his example was that a team could literally win or take second place in all three of the first events, WIN the series championship, bomb out at the 4th event and not play World Cup.

No teams are safe.

I would. Let's say a team in the Champions division doesn't play an event at 100%, feeling like, hey, worst case we just win Challengers next event.

Then they play the next event and... get 3rd.

In the grand scheme of team finances, an entry fee here or there is nothing compared to not being on the webcast on the Pro field.

Even if you're incredibly greedy, you don't want to risk a lower finish.

So you're confirming that the challengers aren't featured on the Webcast?

Lane, may want to rethink that end of things. It could take to a great idea and turn it into a steaming pile.

Edit: Actually that mimics NFL pro playoffs, NBA etc.

Look at the Patriots.

One bad game, no superbowl.

So who will make up the rest of this "challengers league"?

D1 teams that haven't been playing with a penalty box? Or will semi-pro not have a box?

Cool idea... will certainly ruffle some feathers to implement.

Huge move! So happy to see this changing and the Semi pro coming back as well as a no longer stagnant pro division. The interesting thing, this nearly FORCES teams who play both leagues to stick with PSP for the Denver event, or risk losing a tie breaker to see which two bottom teams drop out of the Champions bracket into the Challengers for the next event and then have to fight it out to get back to the top.

I'm curious to see who all will be in the Challengers bracket though... Not as far as pro teams, but rather newer (likely D1) teams. Or maybe the philly americans will come back... and Joy division...

Hope they have 20 teams the first events and everyone has to play everyone in their bracket.

You can't call this semi pro. Upper pro and lower pro. Teams get pro sponsorships so be careful what you call it.

They are gonna have to pull teams from d1 into the Challenger division cus there's barely enough pro teams to fill the ten team champion division. I kinda like this idea, as in mini tournements in each one event overall.I do think this concept will need some tweaking, fixing lil stuff as events/seasons come along.

Edit: reminds me if NASCAR, the better you do in qualification lap, the better poll position you start in the actual race and have chance to be ahead, and rewards all the tweaking to the engine.one bad race doesn't hurt ur overall season points

I like the new concept, make teams prove they deserve to be in the Champions Division. Looking forward to see how this pans out in a few short months!

Having different rules for different divsions is another failure on the PSPs part. If you are training these lower divsions to become your future pros allow them to learn the game from the start. Just have a lower Race to #.

The only points that count towards the season title won in the Champions division? or if you win in the challenger division does that count toward the series too?

So what if they don't make it on the webcast? Who does this hurt?

There aren't millions of fans out there that need to see their team on the webcast in order to be reminded to buy team merchandise, or go to their stadium to watch a game, or some other way for the team to make money.

This isn't football. What is the webcast currently offering that is so important to the Pro teams? Exposure? What does that get them at this present point in time?

Even if they're not trying to get bumped down, I would really, really hate to be the guy who's spending a 1/4 of a million on player salaries only to have the team dropped to Challenger, where they are essentially considered a 2nd rate team.

So...since this is kind of like the millennium....does everyone get thrown into a hat to see who plays who the first event? Or do the rankings from last year apply?
