that was wierd

Just had something weird happen, my tank had a very very low amount of air left in it, so little that with not much finger pressure I was able to let it out of the bottle. So what happened was I threaded my tank onto my shocker and aired it up. I have my input pressure set to 160, and my gauge read 200.

I'm not sure though, cuz when I took my tank off, it held the air in, at 200 psi, and I have a CP on/off on it.

service your reg and some regs hold air in them eventhough there is now airsource hooked up.

I know some regs will actually spike when you run out of air. They have to have a certain amount of pressure to work right. It's like a reg will take your pressure down from 600 + or whatever your tank output is and if your tank pressure drops below a certain point basically the reg stops working and just let's the straight pressure from the tank into the gun.

That doesn't make sense. A reg set to output 200 psi from 850 psi input should never output more than 200 psi as long as the input doesn't increase past 850 psi.

Well this is what happened.
(160 PSI input)
1. Aired the gun up
2. Pressure read 200PSI on the gauge, and air was rushing out of the Allen hole below the reg. (Vertical MaxFlo)
3. I degassed it by turning my on/off off. The gauge still read 200PSI
4. I took the tank off, and it still held pressure at 200PSI
5. fired the gun to release the air.

*This was done with very little air left in the tank. Finger pressure was enough to push the tank pin down, and the air bled out for about 3-5 seconds.

It was just wierd to me that that happened.

Maybe your gauge just gave out. Have you checked to see if it still works properly?

Nah, I'm all out of air. I'm gonna look into it tomorrow, when I get more. I think it was just something weird that happens when the tank is just looooooow on air. Well see tomorrow.

Some tank regs will spike in pressure when they are lower in PSI than the actual regulating PSI of the reg
This was very common on my 03 Pure Energy regulator

I see, but now I'm almost certain there's an issue with my reg. Its a vertical maxflo, so I'm sure were all familiar with those. I think there's something wrong with my reg because I just left my proshop to drop off a karnivor to be adjusted and fixed up (I know shockers, not cockers) and I had my tonton chronoed, and it was shooting in the 250's, with occasional 270-275's. The gun has a eigen bolt, stock sft can, aluminum bolt sleeve, and a virtue board. Input set to 160, dwell set to 10. I have taken my reg apart to grease it up and then I put it back together. Changed no o-rings, because it appeared to be in working order.

how broken in is your bolt? i was getting crazy inconsistency and spikes in mine before it was properly broken in.

edit: that doesnt explain the guage... but possibly the chrono spikes

Pretty sure its broken in all the way Apollo, cause its been FOREVER since the last time I seen the black sludge, and my tolerances for o-rings are amazing. Take a look at my tolerance vid in the eigen thread to see that if u haven't.

and guys I was thinking about something. When I was adjusting my input pressure, what I did was bottom it out and then I just increased it until my gauge read 160 WITHOUT FIRING SHOTS on the way to 160. Should I have increased it a little, then fire a shot or two, then increase more, then fire a shot or two, until I get to 160?

Increase little by little firing in between turns to release the pressure from your reg and continue til you get your desired pressure.

Yes. Maybe your reg is just set to 200 psi and you don't know it.

Ok, I'll adjust it little by little firing in between and go back to the shop to chrono it. I haven't left the city yet.
