Ok, so i have been researching like crazy on starting a paintball field. There are a few questions that i have about the paintball business that i could not find.

Questions-

1. Is it possible to run just a 1 or 2 Speedball fields either indoor or outdoor. (and break even/make money)

2. I have been thinking of using reballs. Anyone use reballs outdoors? Or only indoor?

3. Would you say outdoor fields with grass or turf are better?

4. How many reballs are needed to run a field? (10,000, 20000?)

If you are going to do Reball indoors.. And let's say you run 7v7 and everyone fills their hopper and 4 pods... (200x14)+(180x56)= 12886... So I would say you would need at least another 30000 on top of that so people can fill pods and be ready to play, but I am guessing you will still need more then even those extra 30000.

Also if your just going to do speedball.. In my opinion you will not make any money. You might, but seems like woods/rec is the money maker.

Reballs are indoor-only. Even then they get dirty and start to jam. They also hurt more (they always bounce) and eliminate one of the chief advantages of paintball - seeing the hits.

I know of several commercial indoor paintball fields. I don't know of any commercial reball fields. I'm guessing there is a reason for that.

Any indoor field runs one and at best two "speedball" fields. It can work if you have a market to support it and get your pricing right.

Reballs are a money pit in my opinion. People steal them and they get lost really fast. They also jam hoppers and people arent really into re ball like they used to be.
As far as turf goes it's a hassle to keep clean outside, so I'd stick with grass, although you have to mow. If you're indoors, turf all the way, just wash it every year or so.

You have to wash it every week... not every year or so.

Even in an environment that's semi clean (say a mini shooting range) reballs always tend to get dirty, gunk up markers, and just become a pain in the butt.

We've used reballs to test markers out in our shop, which works out well, isn't messy, and gives the user an idea of fast the marker shoots (although you will get jams)...as far as using them outdoors though, I would stay far away.

Heck yes! That paint builds up quick lol. Which means......you need a place with drainage I suppose. Or some wicked shop vacs.

No, you need a commercial steam cleaner that you run every week over all the turf.
